We began the year with GCSE Information Evenings in both Year 10 and 11, and a Settling In Evening for our Year 7 parents. We are stressing the importance of developing students as ‘independent’ learners. Students need to adopt really good learning habits from Year 7 if they are to be able to achieve their full potential in the new style GCSEs they all face. We have also stressed the importance of doing homework and I would like to remind parents that we do have a homework club which operates Mondays to Thursdays from 2.50 – 4.30pm in the library to support students. Last Wednesday we held a very successful Open Evening and welcomed over 600 Art Scholars Sports Scholars people to this event. In addition we have also held Open Mornings where prospective parents had the opportunity to have a look around the school during the working day. As this term draws to a close I would like to remind parents that we have our first set of Mock Exams the week beginning 13 November involving both Yr11 and Yr10 students.
