RCE Okayama, City of Okayama, Okayama University and UNU-IAS are pleased to welcome you to the “First RCE Thematic Conference: Towards Achieving the SDGs” held in Okayama, Japan from 5-7 December 2017! Please find below for the logistical information of the conference including schedule, venue, accommodation, transportation and other relevant details. Since this document covers information which you will need before and during the conference, please take time to read through carefully before your departure and keep it with you until the end of the conference. We will walk together to the venue, and it takes about 15 minutes. 7 December 2017: Field Trip (9:00-18:00) RCE Okayama is arranging two excursion courses on 7 December. This is free of charge and participants who are interested in attending need to register for a course beforehand. Kindly be informed that participants can only choose attend to either Course (1) or (2). (1) Okayama city, ESD activities in local community. Will visit: - Kojima drained land - Fujita elementary school, junior high school, and Koyo High School, a member of RCE Okayama - Dowa Holdings Power plant runs on biodiesel - Lunch at Okayama Korakuen Garden - Takashima KOMINKAN - Miyashita Japanese Sake Brewery (2) Maniwa city, Biomass tour The tour consisting of technological, consumption and educational aspects will provide you precious opportunities to focus on these issues facing modern society today. You will become increasingly aware of environmental issues and various ways to consume energy in every single aspect of modern everyday life. Place: Poster presentation board will be located in the foyer on the 3rd floor of Okayama Convention center. http://www.mamakari.net/en/facility/ Poster mounting and removal time: Presenters can mount posters from 5 December 8:00 AM Posters must be removed by 5:30 PM on 6 December. Display materials not removed will be discarded. General Information for poster presentation: Please bring your poster material to the reception desk at foyer on 5 December morning. There will be 32 poster boards for RCE members, on a first-come-first-served basis. The poster material size may not be larger than “A0 size” (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm / 33.11 inch x 46.81 inch). The poster board will be 195cm (6.4 feet) high by 120cm (4 feet) wide, mounted on stands. Thumbtacks will be available on-site for mounting the displays. No electrical outlet, table, or chair will be provided for poster presentation due to limited space availability. Map of Okayama Airport: STEP1 Go outside from the terminal from the Domestic / International Arrivals Gates Once you have finished the arrival procedures, go outside from the terminal. Follow the signs at the exit and proceed to the ticket office. 7 20171128_01E STEP2 Buy a bus ticket Buy a ticket for a bus bound for Okayama Station at a ticket machine at the ticket office (760 yen). Refer to the sign posted at the top of the ticket machine for its operating instructions. STEP3 Board a bus bound for Okayama Station Board a bus bound for Okayama Station, which departs from the No. 2 Bus Stop. There are four types of bus service running from Okayama Airport to Okayama Station: Non-stop, Limited Express B, Limited Express A, and Limited Express A ◆. Please note that the type of service varies depending on the time period.
