Maybole and North Carrick Decides – Table of Awards Maybole and North Carrick decides – table of awards Organisation Summary of Project Amount 1st Maybole To allow the group to use The Little Art School to £1,000 Brownies provide a programme of art for the children. 7th Ayrshire Scout To buy seven footprint ground sheets to extend the life £1,000 Group of the newly purchased tents. Also to help with the cost of refurbishing works. Cairn Primary Parent To buy a PA system and lighting bar for Cairn Primary £1,000 Council School. This will be used for events to raise money for the school. It will also be made available to the local community. Carrick Academy PE To buy new equipment for use in the PE Department. £1,000 Sports Council To help encourage more people to take part in extracurricular sport Carrick Academy To buy new equipment for the rugby department at £1,000 Rugby Carrick Academy to replace the dated and worn out equipment used at present. Carrick Chess Club Helping to increase membership through the creation £300 of new professionally designed marketing material and to replace the chess clocks which are used in competitions and to increase membership. Carrick Coastal To help double the membership with special emphasis £1,000 Rowing Club on 14-21 year olds, giving the young people an alternative to rugby and football. Carrick Round Table To buy a new sleigh for the Santa service which brings £1,000 Santa Clause to children in North Carrick in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The existing one is over 15 years old and is beyond repair. Crosne Street To offer alternative activities i.e. carpet bowls, £1,000 Sheltered Housing electronic bingo machine, arts & craft materials, Unit electronic darts board and a portable mini exercise machine to encourage the local community to become involved in the daily activities in the communal lounge of the Housing Unit. Crosshill Community To buy a picnic table and benches for the play park. £1,000 Association Crosshill Primary To buy a Lego education story starter kit which would £1,000 School Parent Council aid children's writing skills. This resource has been used very successfully in many schools with outstanding results. Dunure Youth Club To buy equipment to help young people to learn new £986.96 skills around digital media and technology. Gardenrose Primary To develop the school playground by providing high £1,000 School quality preformed thermoplastic markings on the playground. Girlguiding Ayrshire To help fund a special birthday party to celebrate the £1,000 South – Rainbow 30th 30th year of the UK Rainbow Section for all 300 rainbows at the Heads of Ayr Farm Park. Kirkmichael Bridge To help towards the cost of renting the premises and to £850 Club replace cards and other paraphernalia required to play the game of bridge. Kirkmichael Craft To buy materials and tools to allow members to £1,000 Guild develop their skills for the handcrafts and also to help cover the cost of the hire of the hall. Kirkmichael Village To purchase new chillers and freezers for the £1,000 Renaissance community run shop. This will allow the shop to stock more items and attract more business. Maybole & District To buy music and a sound system, which are currently £1,000 Youth Choir borrowed. They will also purchase T-shirts which the children would design. Maybole Bowling To help repair the club house roof. The majority of the £450 Club members are senior in years and are not able to carry out this type of work. Maybole Community To buy pop-up gazebos to be used at the gala day every £975 Association year and also available for other events and groups if required. Maybole Juniors To cover the cost of much needed decoration and £1,000 Football Club flooring for the clubhouse. Maybole over 50s To fund two trips, in May and September. This money £900 (OIR) would prevent any of the members who are on low incomes being excluded from the trips. Maybole Youth Club To buy new equipment for the club to replace the old £680 equipment that had become unsafe to use. North Carrick Social To purchase a portable hoist and adult slings to be sited £1,000 work Team in Maybole swimming pool. This equipment is much needed and will benefit many people with physical disabilities by providing access to the swimming pool, improving social inclusion and promoting emotional and physical wellbeing. Nursery Court Day To buy a remPod Reminiscence Train Carriage. This £1,000 Care User Group consists of a wallpaper backdrop and a safe replica framed window surrounding an LCD screen which plays hours of scenic countryside footage. South Ayrshire Active To offer a sports project to P1-S3 pupils throughout the £1,000 Schools year. The club will be one hour per week where pupils can access various sports, delivered in six week blocks by local sports clubs. South Ayrshire Young To help fund a residential trip for 12 young people to £1,000 carers Loch Eil group Loch Eil, an Outward Bound Centre, where the young carers will get a much needed break from their roles and also receive a John Muir award. St Cuthbert's PS - To buy additional computers and ICT equipment in £1,000 Coding Club order to help grow the club. Straiton Primary To develop phase 2 and phase 3 of the community £1,000 School garden. Making the area welcome through benches and seating, raised beds, water feature and solar lights. In brief, we belief that the integrity of the Galloway Forest Park, the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park and the Galloway and South Ayrshire Biosphere as tourist destinations are threatened by a development on such a large scale on the major tourist route from the Central Belt to Dumfries and Galloway, the A713; we believe the development is too close to the much loved and used Monument Hill walk, as well as to the nationally significant Designed Landscapes of Blairquhan and Craigengillan; and we believe the survey carried out shows that the threat posed by Keirs Hill to the many tourist businesses in Straiton and nearby is real, and the dismissal of this threat by the PBA Roger Tym survey is completely contradicted by the evidence that they themselves adduce. In April 2013, we also produced a report on tourism in Straiton, Wind Farm Development & Tourism in Straiton: a case-study of tourist provision for the Galloway Forest Park and the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park.

    Maybole & North Carrick Communities Locality Data Profile 2017 *Premature mortality is described as deaths under the age of 75 years. This measure is considered an important indicator as a higher premature mortality rate suggests there is still room to improve population health. POPULATION AND DEPRIVATION Overall, the South Ayrshire population is projected to remain relatively static between 2014 and 2039. However, projections suggest that there will be approximately a 10% drop in the working age population whilst the percentage of individuals of pensionable age and over is due to increase by 21% across the same time period. Many parts of South Ayrshire are prosperous and it is a vibrant area in which to live and work, and to visit; however, significant inequalities continue to exist within and between our communities. • The Maybole & North Carrick Communities (MNCC) Locality has grown slightly over recent years and now sits at 10,697 people. • One in five people in the MNCC Locality are aged over 65. • Approximately one out of eight people in the MNCC Locality live in a deprived neighbourhood. • Approximately one in ten children in the MNCC Locality live in poverty. ECONOMY AND SKILLS The key driver underpinning our future prosperity and the ability to realise the potential of our communities is a local economy which develops and achieves sustainable growth. Delivering economic recovery and growth will contribute to improve outcomes for young and old, improved health, employment, inclusion, and safer and stronger communities. • Two out of three people aged 16 to 74 are economically active. • Approximately half the people in work in the MNCC Locality work in skilled trades, professional occupations and in elementary occupations.

This thesis aims to fill the significant gap in our understanding of how lordship operated in this region.
