The tribe Aelurillini (7 genera, 27 species) is represented in 16 states and in 2 union territories, Euophryini (10 genera, 16 species) in 14 states and in 4 union territories, Leptorchestini (2 genera, 3 species) only in 2 union territories, Plexippini (22 genera, 73 species) in all states except Mizoram and in 3 union territories, and Salticini (3 genera, 11 species) in 15 states and in 4 union terrioties. West Bengal harbours maximum number of species, followed by Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Out of 129 species of the spiders listed, 70 species (54.3%) are endemic to India. In Bangladesh, very few contributions are available on the taxonomic study on these arachnids. The present paper contains an updated checklist of the spider fauna of Bangladesh based on the published records of different workers and the identified collections of the recent studies by the author. It includes a total of 334 species of spiders belong to the infraorders Mygalomorphae and Araneomorphae under 21 families and 100 genera. A brief diagnosis of different families and their domination together with the distribution throughout the country are provided herewith. Key words: Checklist, spiders, Araneae, Arachnida, Bangladesh INTRODUCTION Bangladesh is basically a riverine agricultural country. It lies between 20.35ºN and 26.75ºN latitude and 88.03ºE and 92.75ºE longitude, covering an area of 1,47,570 sq. km (55,126 sq. miles). The country as such offers varied climatic situations viz., temperature, rainfall, humidity, fogmist, dew and Haor- frost, winds etc. (Rashid 1977). With the vast agricultural lands, also there are different kinds of evergreen, deciduous and mangrove forests staying different areas of the country viz., the southern Sunderbans, northern Bhawal and Madhupur forests and eastern Chittagong and Chittagong Hill-Tracts forest. Along with the agricultural lands, each of the forest ecosystems is composed of numerous species of spider fauna of the country. -

This was studied from September 2015 to July 2019. A total of 18 family, 52 genus and 80 species were recorded. Araneidae is the most dominant family among all followed by the silicide family. The main aim of this study is to bring to known the species which is generally observed by the humans in this area. Beside seasonal variation in species is higher in summer season as compared to winter. Also many species were observed each year in same season repeatedly during the study period, further maximum number of species is seen in vegetation type of habitat. Suparno 63 Purwokerto 53122 A B S T R A C T Spiders are crucial in controlling insect pest population. The various cultivation managements such as fertilizer and pesticide application, weeding, pruning, harvesting, and cropping system affect their diversity. In the plantation, vegetation diversification has applied various practices, including monoculture, and intercropping, which influence the spider community. Thus, this study was intended to determine the spider abundance and diversity of the tea plantation, and the intercropping field (tea and strawberry) at Serang village, Karangreja Sub-District, District of Purbalingga. A survey and purposive sampling techniques were conducted, then the spiders were hand collected. Shannon- spider diversity. The results revealed a total number of 575 individual spiders from 10 families, i.e., Araneae, Araneidae, Clubionidae, Linyphiidae,Wiener Lycosidae, diversity Nephilidae, (H’), Evenness Oxyopidae, (E), Simpson’s Salticidae, dominance Tetragnathidae, (D), and Sorensen’s Theridiidae, similarity and Thomisidae. In this day and age, the fact that the keys and the descriptions are in Latin is an increasingly serious inconvenience. It is hoped that a translation of Simon's keys to the Groupes of the large and systematically difficult family of jumping spiders, the Salticidae, will be a welcome aid to the increasing numbers of workers in that family. While many, though not all, of Simon's groups are admittedly artificial, they still represent the only available general scheme for identification and access to the literature. The features that Simon used in his keys, such as the relative position of the posterior median eyes, the shape of the ocular quadrangle, the curvature of the line of the anterior eyes, the relative lengths of the third and fourth legs, the presence and position of the thoracic groove, and the spination of the legs, to mention a few, still serve for identification and classification. -

ARTÍCULO: NOTES ON THE COLLECTION OF SALTICIDAE (ARANEAE) FROM THE MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY ‘ENRICO GAFFI’ IN BERGAMO, ITALY Dmitri Logunov Abstract: Thirty-five salticid species were identified in the spider collection the Museo Civico di Scienze Naturali “Enrico Gaffi” (Bergamo, Italy), with new faunistic records from Croatia (2), Italy (30), Malta (1), Kenya (1), the Philippines (1) and Spain (2). Saitis sanctaeeufe- miae Kolosváry, 1938 is synonymized with Saitis barbipes (Simon, 1868). The female is described for Leptorchestes mutilloides (Lucas, 1846). Three faunistic records are new for particular regions: Talavera monticola (Kulczy½ski, 1884) for Italy, Ergane carinata Berry, Beatty et Prószy½ski, 1996 for the Philippines, and Harmochirus luculentus Simon, 1885 for Kenya. ABSTRACT: A total of 13,662 individuals were collected in the 4 districts of northeastern U.P., viz. Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar belonging to 75 morphospecies out of which 62 were identified upto species level. The most dominant family was Araneidae (31 species) followed by Tetragnathidae, 10 species; Salticidae, 9 species; Lycosidae, 8 species; Thomisidae, Clubionidae and Theridiidae each 3 species; Oxyopidae, Pholcidae and Gnaphosidae each 2 species and Sparassidae and Hersiliidae each 1 species. Following species were most dominant in occurrence: Tetragnatha javana (6.41%), Oxyopes javanus (6.40%), Pardosa pseudoannulata (6.35%), Pardosa birmanica (6.06%), Tetragnatha mandibulata (5.56%), Hippasa holmerae (5.14%), Tetragnatha maxillosa (4.79%), Hippasa partita (4.61%), Araneus ellipticus (4.37%), Camaricus formosus (4.36%), and Lycosa mackenziei (4.09%). It demonstrated that 31.39% of the total collections were observed in Siddharthnagar district followed by Maharajganj (25.89%), Gorakhpur (21.97%) and Kushinagar (20.74%). Orb weabers (44.34%) formed the most dominant guild followed by ground runners (28.8%), Stalkers (16.58%), foliage runners (4.86%) and ambusers (4.76%) which were less common in the study area while very few specimens of space builders (0.67%) were caught in the study area. Chirothecia insulana Kishida, 1914, never recognized since its original description, is redescribed based on new materials and trans ferred to Harmochirus. This spider has long been misidentified with an Indone sian species, Harmochirus brachiatus (Thorell, 1877). Harmochirus nigriculus Logunov et Wesolowska, 1992, recently described from the Russian Far East, is newly recorded from Japan and redescribed on the basis of Japanese materials. Harmochirus niger Kishida, 1910, is regarded as a junior synonym of Harmoch irus pullus (Bosenberg et Strand, 1906). Two new species are described from Japan under the names Bianor japonicus sp.
