The pace of our walks is generally easy, as our main aim is to relax and appreciate the local scenery and villages, and we have tried to provide a mixture of walks of different lengths. We sometimes stop at a village pub en route, but you should always bring a packed lunch and a drink anyway. Strong boots and waterproof clothing are also recommended. Your only expense is the bus or train fare (given below), plus our £1 annual membership fee. There is no need to sign up in advance to join any of this term’s walks – just turn up at the time and place given.     KNAPWELL VILLAGE And The Parish Church of All Saints A SHORT HISTORY Price 25p In Aid of the Parish Church Restoration Fund Map of parish of Knapwell KNAPWELL VILLAGE AND THE PARISH CHURCH OF ALL SAINTS Set in gently rolling countryside in the west of the county, Knapwell is one of the most unspoilt villages in Cambridgeshire. So little modern development has taken place in the village that the imprint of a thousand years of human habitation is still clearly visible in the landscape. This booklet gives some account of the history of the village and its most interesting local landmarks, in particular the parish church of All Saints. The uplands of West Cambridgeshire were once densely wooded, and as a result there was no settlement in the area in prehistoric times. The Romans built great highways through the forests which are still in use today - the Via Devana (the A604) to the north, the 'Ridgeway' (the A45) to the south, and Ermine Street (the A14) to the west - but they, too, did not settle in the wooded uplands. Two hoards of Roman coins, found in Knapwell in 1840 and 1877 respectively, were probably left by a traveller. The first inhabitants of Knapwell and the neighbouring villages were early Anglo-Saxon settlers who began to clear the woodland for farming purposes. It is significant that the first settlers did not establish their villages along the Roman roads, but rather on the main watercourses which were evidently more useful for transport purposes. The stream which runs alongside Knapwell village, forming the boundary with the adjoining parish of Boxworth, is a small tributary of the River Ouse.

    MATTER SC6C - POLICY SS/6/16748 Statement on behalf of Bourn Parish Council in response to the Inspector’s Matters and Issues for the Site-Specific Hearing on the proposed New Village at Bourn Airfield 1. This statement is submitted by Bourn Parish Council on behalf of the Coalition of Parish Councils. The Coalition was established in 2014 to voice the concerns of A428 corridor parish councils, on strategic transport and planning issues, affecting our communities. The Coalition of Parish Councils has 21 members1, representing a population of over 25,000 people 2. In response to the Inspector’s request to avoid duplication, we have talked to other parties including StopBAD, and agreed that we will focus on the Inspector’s General Policy questions (v) on Ribbon Development and (vi) on Transport Infrastructure. We will also respond briefly to the Inspector’s AAP questions (vi) to (viii). 3. In order to address the Inspector’s question on Transport Infrastructure, we: • updated parts of the traffic survey, which we undertook in late 2014 for Matter 7A (Representations 59165 and 59159); • undertook a new survey in Cambourne on where people work and how they get there; • reviewed various surveys undertaken by other organisations since the Consultation on the Modified Local Plan (January 2016). 4. We would like to point out that it is difficult for us to respond as fully as we would have liked to Question (vi). This is because we remain in the dark about the data, methodologies and assumptions used in the transport models underlying the Local Plan.
