6.0 Landover Alternative Chapter 6 describes existing conditions of the Figure 6- 1: Landover Conceptual Site Plan affected environment and identifies the environmental consequences associated with the consolidation of the FBI HQ at the Landover site. The Landover site consists of approximately 80 acres of vacant land located near the intersection of Brightseat Road and Landover Road in Prince George’s County, Maryland. It is bound on the north by Evarts Street, on the east by the Capital Beltway, on the south by Landover Road, and on the west by TRUCK & EVARTS STREET SECONDARY Brightseat Road. Previously, the site was home to the TRUCK VEHICULAR SCREENING GATE Landover Mall, which operated between 1972 and REMOTE DELIVERY 2002. The cities of Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore have setup Metro Rail System and are operating them successfully. Similarly the cities of Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai are constructing Metro Rail system. Smaller cities like Jaipur, Kochi and Gurgaon too are constructing Metro Rail system. With the new policy of Central Government to empower cities and towns with more than two million population With Metro Rail System, more cities and towns are going to plan and construct the same. It is expected that by the end of the Twelfth Five Year Plan, India will have more than 400 Km of operational metro rail network (up from present 223 Km Approximate). The National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC) has been set up by the Government of India to provide a continuing forum for policy dialogue to energise and sustain the growth of manufacturing industries in India. A meeting was organized by NMCC on May 03, 2012 and one of the agenda items in that meeting was “Promotion of Manufacturing for Metro Rail System in India as well as formation of Standards for the same”. In view of the NMCC meeting and heavy investments planned in Metro Rail Systems, Ministry of Urban Development (MOUD) has taken the initiative of forming a Committee for “Standardization and Indigenization of Metro Rail Systems” in May 2012. -

Buildings 6 and 7 are located directly north of the USIP Headquarters Building near the intersection of 23rd and C Street, NW. In 2012, the United States Department of the Navy (Navy) transferred administrative jurisdiction of Buildings 6 and 7 to USIP. The Navy transferred the remaining portion of Potomac Annex, except three Navy flag officer houses and associated land, to the United States General Services Administration (GSA) for use by the United States Department of State (DOS). Buildings 6 and 7 are surrounded to the southeast and east by other federal properties and organizational headquarters, including the American Pharmacists Association Building, the Harry S Truman Building, and the National Mall. Buildings 6 and 7 are contributing resources to the Observatory Hill Historic District, determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. -

WMSC Commissioner Brief: W-0034 – Fatality at Farragut West Station December 9, February201 2019 Prepared for Washington Metrorail Safety Commission meeting on August 4, 2020 Safety event summary: A customer jumped from the Farragut West platform to the track bed as outbound Blue Line Train 406 entered the station on Track 2 on December 9, 2019 at approximately 12:53 p.m. Upon report of the collision, Metro Transit Police and D.C. Fire EMS were called and third rail power was de- energized on Track 2 at 12:55 p.m. Power was de-energized to Track 1 at 1:07 p.m. Service resumed after 3 p.m. Probable Cause: The customer intentionally placed themselves in front of oncoming train. Corrective Actions: None planned in specific response to this event. Train 3166 broken TWC antenna repaired. Staff recommendation: Adopt final report.
