Union of South-East Region Local Authorities Cultural routes in South-East Region of Bulgaria WORKSHOP ON CULTURAL ROUTES Mallorca, 28th -29th November 2013 CULTURAL ROUTES IN SOUTHEAST BULGARIA The beautiful scenery, amazing views and clean environment, convenient routes and a variety of eco-significant biodiversity of protected areas, and preserving cultural and historical heritage in the South East Region of Bulgaria are a rich tourist resource with numerous opportunities of innovative forms of tourism : cultural visits, wine routs, cycling, hunting, hiking, bird watching and much more. Legends say the island has been terrorized by pirates and may be there should be a buried treasure. A new cultural route created - it is the resurrection of the island for tourists During the summer season a ship will travel from Burgas to the island 4 times a day. Tourists could hire also renovated rooms of the monastery. Lovers of the underwater world will have the opportunity to dive in the waters off the volcanic rock and even marry under water. It offers: . Detailed information about landmarks of the natural, cultural and historical heritage in the border region . Objective: improvement, renovation and further development of existing tourist attractions in the city of Sliven and restore, strengthen and develop the historical fortress "Tuida“. This project is not just creating a new tourism product, but storage of the past and respect to the history of our country. Integrated measures: - Development of competitive cultural and historical attraction. - Increasing opportunities and facilities for cultural and educational events in a unique setting -Creating appropriate conditions for recreation by restoring and rehabilitation of green spaces; Aesthetics of the historical and architectural environment. Development of tourist infrastructure with the relevant green spaces and parking lots . Software for interactive tourist information system .
