I’m an Office Maintenance Aide for Seattle Public Utilities with the City of Seattle. Born and raised in Seattle; I’m 25 years old and I enjoy being outdoors, taking long walks, and being social. I was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at age 3; it won’t stop me. In 2014; I became a local rapper. I write songs about my personal life struggles and things I’m good at. I’ve been performing shows for almost 5 years and everybody enjoys my set at every show they come to. My stage name is Fantasy A; I came up with that name when I read books based on magic, fiction, & action and the A stands for my first name, Alex. My motto, I say at the end of a set is, ‘Be yourself, be inspired, & be respectful!’ I’ve been featured in articles in The Stranger, Seattle Weekly, Reddit, & My Northwest. I’ve also been an interview guest on the Jason Rantz Show on KIRO Radio. I love being out in Seattle sharing my story. I joined Mainstay 2 years ago. My job coach, Diane King, helped me make a dream come true when I started my job with Seattle Public Utilities. I enjoy working with the City of Seattle. My goal is to keep following the work policies to become full-time and to show my supervisors that I can do this type of work everyday. I’m so happy to have been selected to be a client ambassador on the Mainstay Leadership Team. I’ll be a great advocate, and will share ideas. I have excellent public speaking skills and tell the world what’s on my mind. I can’t wait to attend my first Leadership meeting! Mehdi is the President of Handi Equality and Development (HED) based in Morocco, while in Seattle, Mehdi spent his time learning about employment services for individuals with cognitive disabilities. On behalf of Mainstay, Anja served as his local mentor. Quickly, they learned of their shared energy and passion for empowering people with disabilities in employment. Together, they were inspired to create a pilot project focusing on supported employment in Casablanca, Morocco. Representing Mainstay and Seattle Central College, Anja wishes to build a long-term, international partnership with HED to export our methods of supported employment. Anja and Mehdi are committed to focusing on developing relationships with employers in Morocco and bringing awareness of rights, abilities, and supports to Moroccans with disabilities. 6 OUTSTANDING EMPLOYEE PARTNERS 2017-2018 Academy Schools King County Aljoya LA Fitness Amazon McDonalds Amazon Fullfillment Center Mercer Medical AMC Theaters Metropolitan Market AVMS Microsoft- Compass Group Baby Diaper Serice Museum of Flight Bellevue School District National Product BodyPoint Nordstrom Boehms Chocolates Northwest Bloodworks Cetera Advisor Networks Northwest Center Chelsey Group Home Park Place Assisted Living City of Seattle Pathfinder School PARTNERSHIPS IN ACTION Cosmopolitan Kids PCC Mainstay is truly nothing without our employers!
