Ferrari's ex-CEO finds "second home" in Malaysia 08:18, April 23, 2009

Former chief executive officer Jean Todt of Ferrari Co. found his "second home" here on Wednesday as he signed a deal to join "Malaysia My Second Home Program (MM2H)".

Todt, who left the post of the Italian sports car manufacturer's CEO last year, signed a MM2H certificate presented by the Malaysian Tourism Minister Ng. Yen Yen at her ministry in the presence of Michelle Yeoh, a Malaysia-born James Bond girl.

Michelle Yeoh, who played a role in the 007 film Tomorrow NeverDies, was widely reported as Ferrari's gird friend, who was born in August 1962 in Ipoh, the Perak State of Malaysia.

Todt, who was also Ferrari's Formula One Head, said that he loved Malaysia and its culture as well as food in Malaysia, including "milk tea" in Malaysia.

He said that he was planning to do something in Malaysia, including house purchases and medical research business.

Todt also said that Yeoh had been nominated as the Global Road Safety Ambassador for promoting global road safety.

Ng. Yen Yen hoped that Todt and Yeoh, two "road champions", could do something to help promote the road safety in Malaysia.

Yeoh said that she could not stay in Malaysia very long because of her job as an actress, but she would cooperate with the Malaysian Tourism Ministry to promote the road safety in the country.

She also said that she planned to shoot some documentaries in Malaysia, especially about Malaysia's heritages.

MM2H is a program implemented by the Malaysian Government beginning in 2002 to attract foreigners, who fulfill certain criteria, to live a meaningful life in Malaysia for long time, as well as to encourage them to invest in the country.

It replaced the Silver Hair Program established in the country 1996.

As of December 2008, more than 12,000 foreigners came into Malaysia under the MM2H to set up their "second home".
