Bremen blazes a trail in Munich
Bremen and Bremerhaven will be presenting some current and forthcoming construction projects at the Expo Real real estate fair in Munich from 4 – 6 October.
Bremen, September 2016. Things are happening in Bremen and Bremerhaven – especially in the property field. Be it port operations and logistics, major inner-city construction projects or the development of innovative districts for urban living, there are property locations and industrial estates available in the State of Bremen for the steadily growing population and for almost every sector of the economy. Moderate land prices, stable returns on investment and a dynamic market lend extra allure to the property market in the two cities.
Bremen and Bremerhaven will again be showing their architectural diversity and potential for development at the Expo Real real-estate fair in Munich (4 – 06 October 2016). 24 companies from Bremen, Bremerhaven and the town of Achim will be presenting themselves on a joint 200 m² stand (no. 240, Hall B2) and showcasing their work, current projects, tenders and plans.
‟Bremen is an attractive property location”, says Martin Günthner, Senator (Minister) for Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen: ‟We have much to offer with our construction projects for industry and in the residential field, and in Munich we are canvassing for more investors and project developers who would like to play a role in Bremen and Bremerhaven.”
Construction activity is particularly intense in Bremen’s city centre, where innovative shopping concepts like CityLab Bremen have already been implemented and where a number of major inner-city building projects are on the horizon. This September will see the opening of ‘Markthalle Acht’, for example, and Kühne & Nagel, a big name in the logistics industry, is building a new office complex on its old site directly beside the River Weser. A stone’s throw from the city centre, Überseestadt is also growing from strength to strength. Since the early 2000s, on a 300-hectare site in the former harbour districts in the western part of the city, a new city area and a ‘location of opportunity’ is rising from the ground. One development project in the making here alongside the Europahafen is ‘Schuppen 3’, an old, 400-metre long redbrick building that was mainly used for storing general cargo in the old days. There is also land on auction for residential buildings in the part of Überseestadt closest to the city centre. Other major construction projects in Bremen include the enlargement of the ‘Hansalinie’ industrial estate by the A1
motorway, an ideal location especially for automotive suppliers, and the new building close to Bremen Airport that will accommodate the Center for Eco- efficient Materials & Technologies (EcoMaT) that serves the aerospace industry.
Bremerhaven’s presentation at the real-estate fair is mainly focused on the development of sustainable districts for urban living to cope with the growing population and on the unused and available industrial areas in the immediate vicinity of Überseehäfen in the northern part of the city. Covering a gross area of about 300 hectares directly behind the container terminals, LogInPort is a major international hub for goods. Another forward-looking project concerns the 270 hectares of potential industrial land in the south of the city, and its progressive development over the next 15 to 20 years. This is also where the most important port construction project of the State of Bremen is located, namely the OTB Offshore Terminal Bremerhaven that was recently granted investment aid by the EU.
The joint trade fair presence in Munich in October 2016 is organised by Bremeninvest (WFB) on behalf of the Senator for Economic Affairs, Labour and Ports of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
The Bremen reception, hosted by the Senator for Building, the Environment and Transport in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Dr Joachim Lohse, Ekkehart Siering, state secretary for economics, labour and habour, and the Mayor of Bremerhaven, Melf Grantz, will be held on the joint stand on 4 October, at 12:30 pm.
