Cowboys setzen Travis Frederick und Terrance Williams auf IR-List Die Dallas Cowboys setzten an diesem Wochenende den Pro-Bowl Center Travis Frederick und den Widereceiver Terrance Williams auf die injured-reserve-list. Dem Center der Cowboys wurde während des Trainingslagers das Guillain-Barré- Syndrom, eine Nervenkrankheit, diagnostiziert. Mit dem Verschieben auf die IR- Liste kann Frederick frühestens im Dezember zum Team zurückkehren. Aufgrund der Krankheit steht jedoch aktuell kein verlässlicher Termin zur Rückkehr zum Team fest. An ein Karriereende denkt Travis Frederick nach Aussagen in den Medien bisher nicht. Der langjährige NFL-Lineman Mark Schlereth der ebenfalls in den 1990ern die Diagnose Guillain-Barré-Syndrom erhalten hatte sagte in den amerikanischen Medien, dass er ein ganzes Jahr gebraucht habe bis er sich wieder 100% fit fühlte. Auch Veteran Terrance Williams kann aufgrund der Platzierung auf die IR-Liste frühestens im Dezember wieder ins Roster zurückkehren. Williams steht jedoch aufgrund einer Verhaftung im Mai aufgrund berauschten Zustands in der Öffentlichkeit vor einer möglichen Suspendierung. Die Cowboys haben Williams im letzten Jahr als Free Agent unter Vertrag genommen. Der Vertrag läuft über zwei Jahre und umfasst ein Gehalt von 17 Millionen, wobei 9,5 Millionen garantiert sind. Zu Saisonbeginn erhielt Williams bereits 3,5 Millionen als Teil der garantierten Zahlung. Aufgrund von Fußoperationen verpasste Williams die gesamte Offseason und das Minicamp, konnte jedoch am Trainingslager teilnehmen und war zuletzt nicht auf dem Verletzungsreport. In der aktuellen Saison konnte der Veteran Widereceiver in drei Spielen lediglich zwei Pässe über insgesamt 18 Yards fangen. Zeitgleich aktivierten Die Dallas Cowboys Defensive Tackle David Irving von der suspended-list. Irving verpasste die letzten Spiele der vergangenen Saison aufgrund einer Gehirnerschütterung und wurde aufgrund von einer Verletzung der Drogenmissbrauchspolitik für die ersten vier Spiele der aktuellen Saison suspendiert. Irving trainierte am Mittwoch das erste Mal seit letztem November, wird jedoch am Sonntag noch nicht spielen..

Returning this year, the Pro Bowl Skills Showdown, pitting AFC and NFC All-Stars against each other in unique competitions, will air on Thursday, January 25 at 9:00 PM ET on ESPN. Each Skills Showdown team will feature a mix of quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, linemen, linebackers, defensive backs and kickers. Pro Football Hall of Famer and 11-time Pro Bowler DERRICK BROOKS, three-time Pro Bowler WARRICK DUNN, Pro Football Hall of Famer and six-time Pro Bowler JASON TAYLOR and Pro Football Hall of Famer and five-time Pro Bowler LA DAINIAN TOMLINSON will serve as 2018 Pro Bowl Legends Captains. Tomlinson (offense) and Taylor (defense) will lead the AFC, while Dunn (offense) and Brooks (defense) will direct the NFC. The four Legends Captains, who were collectively selected to 25 Pro Bowls, will serve as mentors for the Pro Bowl players and be present on the sidelines on gameday.
