Students are empowered to engage in self-assessment, career exploration, and job preparation. Additionally, Career Services develops and maintains relationships with a diversity of employers to provide networking and job opportunities for students and alumni. The mission statement is the foundation for Career Services' strategic plan and it states that the purpose of career services at the University is to help students to identify skills and aptitudes, explore career interests, and integrate classroom theory with actual on-the-job work experiences, enhance employability after graduation, develop social responsibility through a variety of off-campus learning experiences, and to understand the dynamics of human relationships and cultural diversity. More specifically, Career Services' purpose is to: • Assist students in exploring and clarifying career goals, selecting suitable majors, and expanding their knowledge of career options. • Educate students about the job search process, providing them with networking opportunities, and offering a range of employer recruitment programs. • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with a diversity of employers to enhance students’ career exploration process and provide students with a variety of employment opportunities. • Provide students with a variety of opportunities for experiential learning experiences to enhance the career exploration process, develop professional skills, and increase awareness of social responsibility. • Provide students with tools and resources to explore and pursue graduate studies and professional programs. • Provide the university community with current information about national and local employment trends. • Collaborate with faculty, administrators, staff alumni/ae, community members, and other constituents to develop effective career programs, services, and resources. The office supports learning through experience by providing opportunities for: intellectual development, civic and social responsibility, community service, cross cultural and global awareness, career exploration, ethical development, and personal growth. 2 | Page CAREER SERVICES 2015-2016 INTRODUCTION Welcome to the July 2016 Career Services Annual Report. For the 2015-2016 Academic Year, Career Services focused on five goals: 1. Implement new Job Readiness Program: “Employability Skills Program-ESP” to replace the current S.T.A.R. Program 2. Implement the Career Discoveries Program targeting first year and sophomore level students. 3. Ensure effective and efficient delivery of career services to all constituents. 4. Expand Outreach and Marketing Efforts 5. Update and enhance career resources: Career Services webpages and Career Library. Career Services accomplished much during the 2015-2016 Academic Year. Some of these important highlights include: SELECTED STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS • 4280 students and alumni actively used Osprey CareerLink • 1409 students participated in some aspect of the Employability Skills Program (ESP) with 382 completing all steps • 2043 students attended Career Services major programs and job fairs • 536 Employers participated in major career programs and job fairs • 4495 students received one-on-one career counseling/job search counseling assistance • 356 career workshops were presented by Career Services staff with 9875 students participating • 533 companies and organizations participated in on-campus recruiting programs • 6677 Jobs, Internships and Volunteer opportunities were posted in Osprey CareerLink • 7838 employers registered in Osprey CareerLink • 81,989 unique visitors and 243,073 page views to Career Services webpage • 3918 views of online career resource: Career Spots (professionally produced career videos) • 1123 “Likes” of Career Services’ Facebook page, 511 followers on Twitter, and 224 followers on Instagram • 406 practice interviews were conducted in Interviewstream • 174 students utilized the online self-directed career development system “Focus II” • 36% of students in the Osprey Eyes “secret shopper review” gave Career Services an A+ rating. 45% gave an A and 5% gave an A- rating (86%) 3 | Page ASWOT ANALYSIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Director, Rick Roberts •For the Spring 2016 Metrics, UNF scored 8 out of 10 on Metric 1 (Placement Rates) and Metric 2 (Salary Levels) •Career Services staff conducted 356 workshops or classroom presentations with 9875 students attending •Career Services staff provided individualized career development assistance to 4495 students. •Coordinate ongoing comprehensive strategic planning process for Career Services •Provide direct supervision for 8 A&P and 2 USPS Staff members •Serve as Career Services Webmaster: Updating and maintaining all Career Services webpages including all content, links, and graphics •Developed, designed (format, layout, content), and updated 16 Career Guides for students on a variety of topics including resumes, cover letters, interviewing, job search strategies, using social media in a job search, networking, finding an internship, applying to graduate school, •Developed, designed and updated Guide to Employer Services- An overview of employer career services and on-campus recruiting programs •In conjunction with Office of Alumni Engagement, developed and presented: "The New Grad Career Workshop Series: The A-Z Of Landing a Job. Developed the curriculum for the series, wrote all handout materials, and created all powerpoint presentations. Series consisted of Resume and Cover Letters; Interviewing, and Job Search Strategies. •Revamped "S.T.A.R. (Skills To Achieve Results) programming to new "Employability Skills Program." Developed workshops, handouts, and powerpoint presentations for staff use. •1409 students participated in some aspect of the Employability Skills Program •Provide individual career counseling assistance for UNF alumni/ae who are one year past graduation (16 one-on-one appointments for 2015-16) •Met individually with students on a daily walk-in basis (10:00 a.m.- Noon) providing resume critiques and job search assistance (226 students) •Conducted on-line resume critiques through “Osprey Career Link for College of Arts and Sciences Students (441 students) •Met individually with students to provide resume and job search assistance (20 students) •Coordinated the planning and implementation of 9 Major Career Programs: 4 | Page Fall 2015 -Sept. 24th - CCEC Employer Showcase 85 Employers 324 students and alumni -September 25th - Osprey Career Fair 103 Employers 439 students and alumni -October 20th - Graduate & Prof. School Fair 23 Schools 60 students and alumni -October 22 - Pre-Law Day 14 Schools 114 students -November 10 – Physical Therapy Showcase 16 employers 96 students Spring 2016 -February 17 – CCEC Employer Showcase 113
