The Wizard of synopsis:

Dorothy Gale, a young girl who lives on a farm in with her and , gets in the way while the adults try to work. She finds a quiet place where she won’t get into any trouble She is upset because their mean neighbor, Miss Gulch, has a Sheriff’s summons to take her cherished dog, . Toto escapes from Miss Gultch’s and joins as she runs away from the farm. Professor Marvel, convinces her to go back . A cyclone hits the area, and Dorothy is accidently hit on the head. This begins their journey to the .

When she wakes up in Oz, Dorothy is greeted by Glinda, the Witch of the North Dorothy’s house inadvertently lands on and fatally strikes the Witch of the East. This frees the and the comes to avenge her sister’s death and to claim her sister’s magic , only to find that Glinda has already put them on Dorothy’s feet. Dorothy wants to go back home to Kansas, so Dorothy is . Along the way she meets three friends and travel companions. The . The Tinman, and the . Each agree to accompany Dorothy to ask the Wizard for gifts only he can give. Our travelers arrive at the . The travelers must prove themselves worthy of the Wizard’s help by bringing him the Wicked Witch of the West’s broomstick. So off the foursome goes, to the land of the Winkies and the Wicked Witch’s castle.

The group is in the haunted forest filled with jitterbugs that spook them and they all collapse from exhaustion. The Wicked Witch’s flying monkeys swoop down and capture Dorothy and Toto. The Lion, Scarecrow and Tinman make it to the castle to rescue Dorothy. The foursome and Toto are reunited, but the Wicked Witch prevents their escape until Dorothy throws a bucket of water at the fire in Scarecrow and ends up dousing the Wicked Witch. She screams and melts into nothing. The foursome take the back to the Wizard. The Wizard is reluctant to see the travelers, but Toto playfully pulls aside the curtain that separates the Wizard from them. An ordinary man (Professor Marvel) speaking into a microphone is revealed. As the Wizard he grants all of their wishes and gets ready to go back to Kansas with Dorothy in his balloon. It accidently takes off without Dorothy and Toto, but Glinda saves the day. She explains to Dorothy that all this time, Dorothy has had the power herself to go home. All she has to do is close her eyes, tap her heels together three times and repeat to herself “there’s no place like home.”

Back in Kansas the is over. Dorothy wakes up confused, with a bump on her head. Dorothy appreciates her family and friends even more than ever.

I haven’t got any courage at all. I even scare myself. Look at the circles under my eyes. I haven’t slept in weeks. My life has been simply unbearable. Even my family’s disowned me. When I was just a little cub, my father took me to the top of a high mountain and waved his paw around and said, “One day son, all this will be yours.” Oh – I was terrified!

Glinda

Well I’m a little muddled. The Munchkins called me because a new witch has just dropped a house on the , and there’s the house, and here you are, and those legs are all that’s left of the Wicked Witch of the East. And so, what the Munchkins want to know is, are you a good witch or a bad witch?

Dorothy

Oh Jeepers! My heart’s thumping so loud I can’t hardly breathe. Toto…Toto. No need to be scared anymore. She ain’t follwin’ us. I won’t let her touch you nohow!

Well, I…I think that it…that it isn’t enough just to want to see Uncle Henry and Auntie Em. And it’s that…if I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own back yard, because if it isn’t there, I never really it to begin with. Is that right?
