Five Finger Death Punch. Five Finger Death Punch was founded in 2005 by guitarist Zoltan Bathory (formerly of U.P.O.). He recruited members to the band including former Motograter vocalist Ivan Moody, W.A.S.P. drummer Jeremy Spencer who also jammed with Neil Yockey), former Anubis Rising/Deadsett bassist Matt Snell and Jason Hook. Caleb Bingham, the original Five Finger Death Punch lead guitarist was replaced with Darrell Roberts of W.A.S.P. in 2007, who in turn was replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. The band recorded their debut album The Way Of The Fist in 2006 with Stevo "Shotgun" Bruno (Mötley Crüe, Prong) and Mike Sarkisyan (Spineshank). The record was mixed and mastered by former Machine Head and Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader. Soon thereafter, the band signed a deal with Firm Music, a branch of "The Firm". Their debut album The Way Of The Fist was released on July 31, 2007. The record charted into the Billboard 200 on its first week of release, and reached the #1 position on Billboard's New Artist/Heetseekers chart. In an "unfriendly climate for metal", their debut single "The Bleeding", went top ten against all odds and received radio airplay for eight months and the video for the song was voted on MTV2's Headbangers Ball Top 5 Metal Videos of the Year. Five Finger Death Punch not just repeated but surpassed their first single's success with their follow-up single, "Never Enough". The song charted faster than even that of "The Bleeding", until the third single "Stranger Than Fiction" took its place. Album American Capitalist. Five Finger Death Punch American Capitalist cd disc image. American Capitalist [Deluxe Edition] For their third album, Five Finger Death Punch deliver another dose of crunchy, hard-hitting jams ready-made for the mosh pit. With its relentless heaviness and chugging riffs, American Capitalist captures the raw aggression of the era of post-Pantera groove metal, occasionally tempering the fire with some cleaner, more soaring passages that give listeners a brief respite before throwing them straight back into the action with a sonic barrage. While songs like the searing title track and “Menace” are punishing exercises in aggression, what’s most impressive are the (relatively) gentle songs like “Coming Down” and “Remember Everything,” where the bandmembers show that they can even make their ballads heavy. This kind of constant drive away from the more watered-down sound of a lot of their post-grunge contemporaries and toward metal is something that allows Five Finger Death Punch to stand out in a genre that’s easy to get lost in. Over time, it has grown into a large movement that encompasses musicians, producers, promoters, media outlets and the international exchange of music, ideas and live shows. As a music based around discontent with society at large, Heavy Metal attempts to question the status quo through an intellectual exploration of taboo subjects and the presentation of controversial live shows. As an international discourse, Heavy Metal speaks to ideas of both socio-political and individual power based around a Philosophy of Life that exalts personal freedoms and personal responsibility to oneself and their society. As a community, it represents a ‘rage’ group, as defined by Peter Sloterdijk, that questions Western epistemologies and the doctrines of Christian Philosophy. This is done in different ways, by different genres, but at the heart is the changing of macro- (international) discourses into micro- (local) discourses that focus on those issues important to the geographic specificity of the region. In the case of Black Metal, born in Norway, it is interpreted in El Salvador through the similarities between the doctrines of Hitler and those of the most famous dictator in the country’s history – General Maximiliano Hernandez – and then applied, ironically, to the local phenomena of the Salvadoran Street Gangs (MS-13 and 18s) and their desired extermination.

Abstract “‘Moments of Clarity’ and Sounds of Resistance: Veiled Literary Subversions and De- Colonial Dialectics in the Art of Jay Z and Kanye West” employs rap music as an object of inquiry into the question of contemporary manifestations of anti-Black oppression, demonstrating the ways in which the art of rappers Jay Z and Kanye West in particular, covertly elucidates the conditions and discursive and ideological mechanisms of power that make possible the exploitation, repression, and destruction of Black bodies in America. In the first two chapters, I argue that this illuminative potential is, in part, what attributes to the political utility of mainstream rap music. My first goal is therefore to make apparent mainstream rap music’s rightful place in Black liberation politics given its ability to unveil the functionality of age-old Eurocentric, white supremacist paradigms, such as rendering Black bodies incorrigibly animal, denying Black bodies access to subjectivity, or negating Black ontology. These ideologies give rise to exclusionary monolithic constructions of what it means to be human, pathological constructions of “blackness,” Black masculinity especially, and subsequently, the arbitrary conferral of power (to both state apparatuses and individuals racially coded as “superior”), which manifests in the form of systematic and institutional racism, and ultimately, Black male disembodiment.

That goal, since the beginning when Five Finger Death Punch formed in 2005, is now fully realized. The unrelenting hard work of the past eight years is all calibrated as The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, an ambitious two-album release that will affect everything to follow. The title itself defines balance--much like Five Finger Death Punch. Their tactical instrumental attack is balanced by volatile lyrics and a voice driven by pain and fury. The reward is three--soon to be more--gold albums and an unprecedented run of Top 10 Active Rock radio singles that have been embraced by an audience actually living the teetering emotional balance of the songs. Working again with producer Kevin Churko at The Hideout Studios in the band's home base city of Las Vegas, The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell was written and recorded with an initial mindset of being just one album. The wave of creativity that resulted in twenty-three songs was measured out into a pair of companion albums only after all the tracks were complete.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE January 23, 2012 FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH ANNOUNCE CANADIAN TOUR, SELECT WEST COAST DATES SOULFLY TO SUPPORT ALONG WITH WINDOWPANE, PERSIST Las Vegas, NV - American Capitalism will be heading to the Great White North this spring. Five Finger Death Punch has announced they will tour Canada as well as the Western US beginning this March, with legendary Soulfly as support, as well as Windowpane and Persist. 5FDP will headline Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg and more, while also playing a special Las Vegas hometown show alongside other western-US markets. Singer Ivan Moody shared, "The few times we've been to Canada it's been absolutely phenomenal. The fact that we get to take a band like Soulfly with us on a tour like this says it all. This is going to be one hell of a great time, in no uncertain terms." Guitarist Zoltán Báthory added, "We only played a handful of dates in Canada, but they were all sold-out so we are really looking forward to a headlining tour up there. What makes it even sweeter is taking one of our favorite bands Soulfly with us on this trek. As we are playing bigger and bigger venues, I think it became our responsibility to help expose some great metal bands to our more diverse audience ." This will be 5FDP’s first proper headlining tour in Western Canada, where their current album, American Capitalist is already more than halfway to CRIA-Certified Gold Record Status - a mere three months after its release. 5FDP’s previous album, War is the Answer , is projected to hit CRIA-GOLD Status this spring, right around the time of the tour.
