The band will be taping a special outdoor performance on October 12th to air on the October 26th, 2011 episode of the show and will perform new music from their upcoming full-length album, American Capitalist, being released on October 11th, 2011. Over time, it has grown into a large movement that encompasses musicians, producers, promoters, media outlets and the international exchange of music, ideas and live shows. As a music based around discontent with society at large, Heavy Metal attempts to question the status quo through an intellectual exploration of taboo subjects and the presentation of controversial live shows. As an international discourse, Heavy Metal speaks to ideas of both socio-political and individual power based around a Philosophy of Life that exalts personal freedoms and personal responsibility to oneself and their society. As a community, it represents a ‘rage’ group, as defined by Peter Sloterdijk, that questions Western epistemologies and the doctrines of Christian Philosophy. This is done in different ways, by different genres, but at the heart is the changing of macro- (international) discourses into micro- (local) discourses that focus on those issues important to the geographic specificity of the region. In the case of Black Metal, born in Norway, it is interpreted in El Salvador through the similarities between the doctrines of Hitler and those of the most famous dictator in the country’s history – General Maximiliano Hernandez – and then applied, ironically, to the local phenomena of the Salvadoran Street Gangs (MS-13 and 18s) and their desired extermination.

Abstract “‘Moments of Clarity’ and Sounds of Resistance: Veiled Literary Subversions and De- Colonial Dialectics in the Art of Jay Z and Kanye West” employs rap music as an object of inquiry into the question of contemporary manifestations of anti-Black oppression, demonstrating the ways in which the art of rappers Jay Z and Kanye West in particular, covertly elucidates the conditions and discursive and ideological mechanisms of power that make possible the exploitation, repression, and destruction of Black bodies in America. In the first two chapters, I argue that this illuminative potential is, in part, what attributes to the political utility of mainstream rap music. My first goal is therefore to make apparent mainstream rap music’s rightful place in Black liberation politics given its ability to unveil the functionality of age-old Eurocentric, white supremacist paradigms, such as rendering Black bodies incorrigibly animal, denying Black bodies access to subjectivity, or negating Black ontology. These ideologies give rise to exclusionary monolithic constructions of what it means to be human, pathological constructions of “blackness,” Black masculinity especially, and subsequently, the arbitrary conferral of power (to both state apparatuses and individuals racially coded as “superior”), which manifests in the form of systematic and institutional racism, and ultimately, Black male disembodiment.

That goal, since the beginning when Five Finger Death Punch formed in 2005, is now fully realized. The unrelenting hard work of the past eight years is all calibrated as The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell, an ambitious two-album release that will affect everything to follow. The title itself defines balance--much like Five Finger Death Punch. Their tactical instrumental attack is balanced by volatile lyrics and a voice driven by pain and fury. The reward is three--soon to be more--gold albums and an unprecedented run of Top 10 Active Rock radio singles that have been embraced by an audience actually living the teetering emotional balance of the songs. Working again with producer Kevin Churko at The Hideout Studios in the band's home base city of Las Vegas, The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell was written and recorded with an initial mindset of being just one album. The wave of creativity that resulted in twenty-three songs was measured out into a pair of companion albums only after all the tracks were complete. The point was to release a prolific moment in time as a single body of work--a veritable double album--including matching color-coded cover artwork to thematically link the two volumes, much like Guns N' Roses did with Use Your Illusion in 1991.

Head to ARTISTdirect to view the video now! “We wanted to hit a pretty sarcastic tone with it, so it looks like a typical big cock-rock video, but in a tongue in cheek way," states guitarist Zoltan Bathory. "We put all the 'big- time video' clichés in it except for the booty shake, or maybe we even got that, I don't remember. We do have the party scenes, cars, airplanes, mansions, pools and girls - of course you can't have a raaawwwk video without your token pool scene. Also, it's shot from a behind-the-scenes perspective where you can actually see the director 'trying' to direct our music video. He is running in and out of the frames, posing the band, trying to make us act a certain way, which is pretty typical of most video shoots and it always annoys the hell out of the bands. It's an interesting angle the fans never get to see, and adds to the sarcasm of the whole clip. We just wanted to have fun with it, and actually it ended up being a blast and more of a party than a stressful video shoot.
