They join previously announced performers Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Adam Levine, Carrie Underwood, and Usher. The primetime special, presented by The Recording Academy®, AEG Ehrlich Ventures, and CBS will honor the remarkable legacy of the legendary Frank Sinatra by celebrating the late icon’s 100th birthday with a stellar line-up of entertainers performing songs made famous by "the Chairman of the Board." The live concert taping will be held Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at Wynn Las Vegas Encore Theatre. The special will be broadcast in HDTV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, Dec. 6, from 9 – 11 p.m. ET/PT. Additional performers will be announced shortly. Considered a voice for all generations, Sinatra's signature style and timeless music continue to inspire today. "Frank Sinatra was a mentor, colleague and dear friend of mine and he was the master of intimate singing," stated Bennett. "I’ve been singing Frank Sinatra songs in my shows for many years," said Dion. "His voice has been such an inspiration for me and it will always be." "My grandfather introduced me to Frank Sinatra," said Keys. "I love hearing his songs, the phrasing, the innocence — the subtle depth that knocks you out when you concentrate on the lyrics. And those arrangements! It brings me back to the lost art of 'the gentleman.'" Levine offered, "Nobody could juggle a drink, a conversation and a perfect vocal as casually as Frank. That's why I love him." Among Sinatra's nine GRAMMY wins are three for Album Of The Year for Come Dance With Me (1959), September Of My Years (1965) and A Man And His Music (1966). Additional recognition from The Recording Academy includes a Lifetime Achievement Award, GRAMMY Legend Award™, and 13 recordings inducted into the GRAMMY Hall Of Fame®. • The Recording Academy® Today from the President/CEO the Recording Academy®
The Recording Academy® Today From The President/CEO The Recording Academy® ince its formation in 1957 by a forward-thinking group of industry executives, artists and musicians, The Recording Academy has been a leading force in supporting music Screators nationwide. From relatively humble beginnings (The Academy initially had a presence in only Los Angeles and New York and the GRAMMY Awards weren’t televised live until 1971), this organization has grown remarkably in stature and reach through the years. Over those years, the GRAMMY Awards has truly become Music’s Biggest Night, and perhaps the most important and influential three-and-a-half-hour broadcast and event for music makers and the entire music industry. The impact on an artist’s career can be substantial and dramatic, and the show’s own legacy has become internationally renowned, with unforgettable moments on the telecast becoming part of our shared musical history. And those shared memories are getting shared in record numbers. During the 56th GRAMMY Awards on Jan. 26, 2014, there were a record-breaking 34 million social media interactions surrounding the show. But our reach goes well beyond the GRAMMY telecast. In the last few years, GRAMMY television specials honoring the late Whitney Houston and the 50th anniversary of the Beatles in America have proven that the authenticity the GRAMMY brand can bring to such shows has remarkable value. And we do so much of our most important work off-screen. More than 20 years ago, The Academy added its affiliated charities — the MusiCares and GRAMMY Foundations. MusiCares has built an admired reputation as the health and human services organization for the music community.
