Vice President Inaugurates World Conference on Vedas Cabinet Approves Special Package for Employment Generation in Leather DECEMBER 15TH, 2017 CURRENT AFFAIRS Vice President inaugurates World Conference on Vedas India's Vice President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu said that the Vedas spread welfare for world peace, global brotherhood, and everyone. ● Inaugurating the World Conference on Vedas called "Vedas Vedas", he said that the relevance of the Vedas towards humanity is quite high. GLOBAL ● Yajur Veda explains that the meaning of knowledge of the Vedas is the NEWS welfare of the whole mankind. ● He further said that the Vedas are not related to any caste or religion. ● Describing the Vedas as the earliest known work of ancient knowledge and philosophy in India, the Vice President said that the roots of our civilization, culture, thought and philosophy are rooted in the Vedas. ● He said that Vedas are the source of knowledge and they guide us in modernizing the fields of economics, society, education and politics and maintaining high moral standards. ● Vedic philosophy reveals that truth, non-violence, patience, penance and spiritual uplift are the basis of human life. ● Vedas give message of religious harmony, equality and progress of nation. ● Quoting Rig Veda verse 5.60.5, Shri Venkaiah Naidu said that according to the Vedas, no person in the society is small or big. Cabinet approves special package for employment generation in leather and footwear sector Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the special package for employment creation in the leather and footwear sector. NATIONAL NEWS ● This package includes implementation of 'Indian Footwear, Leather and Accessories Goods Program' with an approved expenditure of Rs 2,600 crore during the three financial years of 2017-18 to 2019-20. ● This scheme of Central sector will lead to the development of infrastructure in leather sector, specific environmental concerns related to leather sector will be overcome, additional investment will be facilitated, job creation and production will increase. ● Increasing tax incentives will attract wide investment in this area and www.toprankers.com Page 1 of 6 https://www.facebook.com/TopRankersPage/ DECEMBER 15TH, 2017 CURRENT AFFAIRS keeping in view the seasonal nature of this sector, improvement in labor law will lead to an increase in production level. ● The special package has the capacity to create 3.24 lakh new jobs during the three years and will help to formalize two lakh jobs as cumulative impact on the footwear, leather and accessories sector. The Cabinet approved the agreement with UNESCO on setting up of International Training Center for Operational Marine Science in Hyderabad. AGREEME- The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, has NT approved the setting up of International Training Center for NEWS operational marine science in Hyderabad in the form of UNESCO Class-2 Center (C2C) in Hyderabad. ● The purpose of this agreement is to set up training centers in the direction of capacity building for small island countries under the framework of the Indian Ocean (IOR), Indian and Atlantic Ocean, the UNESCO framework. ● For conducting systematic marine science studies in the direction of providing information to different areas like offshore industries to operate smoothly, operational maritime science fishermen, disaster management, shipping, seaports, coastal states, naval, coast guard, environment, daily operations.     BHARAT SCHOOL OF BANKING JULY 4 DAILY CURRENT AFFAIRS Dr. Subhash Bhamre Chairs CAC of National Cadet Corps Minister of State for Defence Dr. Subhash Bhamre chaired th the 50 Central Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) here today. ● Dr. Bhamre, in his presidential address complimented the NCC on the performance of its cadets in various activities pertaining to training, adventure, social service and NATIONAL community development. NEWS ● The committee deliberated on various issues in order to optimise training efforts so that NCC continues to perform in an excellent manner towards character and leadership building of the youth of the nation. ● The Minister complimented efforts of the NCC in nation building and urged it to continue ‘Grooming Future Leaders’. ● The NCC presently has cadet strength of 13 lakhs and plans to expand to 15 lakhs and beyond. Environment Minister to Lead Plantation Drive to Celebrate Van Mahotsav Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan will lead a month-long drive to plant saplings to mark Van Mahotsav here starting on July 5. ● The plantation drive will be organised at Ram Lila Park, C. C Colony, Model Town tomorrow and in District Park, Paschim Vihar on July 6. ● The Minister will plant saplings and also distribute saplings for plantation to local residents. NATIONAL ● Dr. Harsh Vardhan has advised the people to plant native trees because NEWS they readily adapt to local climate, integrate into the ecosystem, have a high survival rate and are helpful in supporting local birds, insect and animals. ● Recollecting the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi’s emphasis on ‘Van Dhan’ to enhance the country’s forest-based economy, while improving the biodiversity and living in harmony with nature has been a part of our culture for thousands of years, the Environment Minister requested all States and the people at large, to hold plantation drives during the monsoon season.
