In this paper, the first complete mitochondrial genome sequence of O. rubicundus is reported. The complete mitochondrial genome sequence is 17119 bp in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes, 22 tRNA genes, a control region and an L-strand origin as in other teleosts. Most mitochondrial genes are encoded on H-strand except for ND6 and seven tRNA genes. Some overlaps occur in protein-coding genes and tRNAs ranging from 1 to 7 bp. The possibly nonfunctional L-strand origin folded into a typical stem-loop secondary structure and a conserved motif (5-GCCGG-3) was found at the base of the stem within the tRNACys gene. The TAS, CSB-2 and CSB-3 could be detected in the control region. However, in contrast to most of other fishes, the central conserved sequence block domain and the CSB-1 could not be recognized in O. rubicundus,whichis consistent with Acanthogobius hasta (Gobiidae). In addition, phylogenetic analyses based on different sequences of species of Gobiidae and different methods showed that the classification of O. rubicundus into Odontamblyopus due to morphology is debatable. Ecosystems goods and services from mangrove forests are especially vital to coastal communities. Yet mangrove areas continue to be deforested at unprecedented rates. Using gobioid fishes associated with mangrove forests as focal organisms, we assessed their diversity in 14 selected sites within the Lesser Sunda group of islands. We applied Correspondence analysis to determine the relationships between ecosystems based on the occurrence of these fishes and complementarity analysis to identify the minimum number of sites to conserve maximum diversity based on a rarity algorithm. We recovered 55 gobioid fish species at these mangrove areas, and proposed six mangrove areas within the Lesser Sunda group of islands as areas of conservation priority: Loh Sebita, Oebelo, Bipolo, Lembar Bay, Selindungan, and Kawangu. -
Species Composition and Abundance of Fish and Prawn Species in Ataran River, Mon State
SPECIES COMPOSITION AND ABUNDANCE OF FISH AND PRAWN SPECIES IN ATARAN RIVER, MON STATE Naw Zar Chi Linn1, Than Than Soe2, Win Win Myint3 ABSTRACT The Ataran river, one of the tributaries of the Thanlwin river, was rich both freshwater and brackish fish and prawn species and contribute significantly to a numerous of ecosystem services for inland fisheries. The present research was done to evaluate the species composition and abundance of fish and prawn species along the Ataran river at fish landing sites of Naungbinseik, Ngabyama and Chaungnakwa from December, 2019 to March, 2020. In this research, a total of 47 fish species belonging to 27 families, 41 genera under 13 orders and seven prawn species from two genera of Palaemonidae were recorded and identified. Species numbers and abundance of fish and prawn were highly observed in December while those were lowly in March in all study areas. The highest fish species number was shown by Nyaungbinzeik area (41 species), followed by Chaungnakwa area (37 species) and Ngabyama area (35 species). Relative abundance of fish indicated eight species as very common, 15 species as common and 24 species as uncommon in the study areas. Of the 47 fish species recorded, one species Wallago attu has been assessed as Vulnerable and one endemic species Esomus altus (Fishbase,2017). A toad fish species, Allerbatrachus grunniens (locally called Nga-oak-phar) is for the first record from Ataran river, Mon State. The highest number of recorded prawn species was observed in Chaungnakwa followed by Naungbinzeik and Ngapyama. Wijaya Kusuma No 113, Banyuwangi, Indonesia Email: [email protected] Abstract The burrowing goby, Trypauchen vagina, is recorded for the first time from the Pangpang Bay of Banyuwangi, Indonesia. Types of fish T. vagina is a type that has not published in Indonesia. This fish was caught using trap net in waters Pangpang Bay, which is an essential area in Banyuwangi, East Java. The description of the morphology and fish habitat conditions shows that the region has a diversity of fish resources that need attention. This goby fish has a local name as fish bedhul picek due to the sense of sight on these fish as if it does not work. Eyes covered by skin and socket head section was not found their eyeballs. The body of the specimens is elongate and reddish-pink in fresh specimens in coloration. There is no barbel on the chin. Cycloid scales are present on the whole body except for the head. Muncar people commonly consume T.vagina. This fish has been food sources in several regions but uncommon at several local markets in Indonesia. The T.vagina inhabit at Pangpang Bay as the bay, which has the high primary productivity of these waters due to sufficient nutrient support. -

Thirty three species of finfish belonging to 6 orders, 18 families and 30 genera and 5 species of shellfish belonging to one order, 2 families and 2 genera have been identified from the catch of Set Bag Net (SBN) , Gill Net (GN), Scoop Net ( SN) and Enclosure Net (EN). Maximum number of species were recorded under the family Cyprinidae (8 species) followed by the family Gobiidae (4 species) and the maximum number of shellfish species were recorded under family Palaemonidae (3 species). Systematic positions with taxonomic nomenclature of the finfish and shellfish species are provided. Percentage composition of finfish and shellfish catch for six months by all the four nets combined showed that the Galda chringri, Macrobrachium rosenbergii occupied the first position (10.08%), while Colisha labiosa occupied the last position (0.02%).
