IDC OPINION This study represents the vendor assessment model called IDC MarketScape. This research is a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics that explain a vendor's current and future success in the digital strategy consulting services marketplace. This study assesses the capabilities and business strategies of 13 prominent digital strategy consulting services vendors. This evaluation is based on a comprehensive framework and a set of parameters expected to be most conducive to success in providing digital strategy consultancy. A significant component of this evaluation is the inclusion of digital strategy consulting buyers' perception of both the key characteristics and the capabilities of these providers. This client input was provided primarily from the vendors' clients, supplemented with a worldwide survey. Key findings include: . Consultancies are getting the basics right. Reference clients that IDC spoke with were impressed by the quality of the people from the leading digital strategy consultancies. On average, reference clients gave consultancies highest scores for people quality, action orientation, and client-specific insight. This indicates that digital strategy consultancies are getting the basics right — they are recruiting smart and empathetic people and are training and developing them well, they are getting to know their clients inside out, and they are producing very useful advice as a result. Clients want to be challenged more than ever by their digital strategy consultants.

    d LOUIS BETTS, PORTRAIT PAINTER OF HIGH SOCIETY: The Meadow Brook Hall Portraits of Alfred G. Wilson, Matilda R. Wilson, Danny and Frances Dodge, and John F. Dodge Karen A. Morgante Portraiture has a long established tradition in American art. Datable to the colonial limners, portraits were considered a practical mode which enabled an individual to establish his “sense of being” along with ties to his family and position. Throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth-century, it was the dominant art form of the middle class Protestant society. As the country grew and prospered, the wealthy merchants and plantation families had their portraits painted in the style of their mother country. Sir Godfrey Kneller, the official por- traitist of the English aristocracy, established the model for the high court style. The Grand Manner was brought to America with the influx of immigrant painters, and gradually, by Amer- ican-born artists who studied abroad. Patrons expected the painter to capture their likeness, as well as suggest their social position. A new realm of portraiture was opened with the advent of the daguerreotype in the nineteenth-century. As the process evolved, photography provided an affordable means for the masses to have their images recorded for posterity. For some artists, the new visual realism of photography was an aid 24 to capturing an individual in action, a thought, a moment in time; other artists embraced new approaches to portraying their sitter in a more creative way. The early twentieth-century found the national and in- ternational scene in a whirlwind; economic, political, social, and technological changes affected society’s way of life and thinking.

En esta polaridad del arte urbano, en esa línea tan fina que separa vandalismo de arte, se mueve como pez en el agua Banksy, un artista que ha dado ese impulso definitivo que necesitaba el street art para presentarse ante la sociedad como un arte vanguardista, original, crítico y reflexivo, pero ante todo universal, accesible a todos los estratos sociales. Esa universalidad es la que representa Banksy y es el valor que el artista de Bristol da a su obra, una obra que, sin embargo, cada vez más frecuentemente es objeto de especulación por las galerías de arte y las casas de subasta. Podemos afirmar que Banksy es ya un fenómeno de masas del que se han escrito chorros de tinta y se han retuiteado miles de mensajes o compartido cientos de noticias.

In the first days of a lengthy regional tour, the king has appeared with top-ranking officials in Indonesia and Malaysia in pictures and clips that have been shared online millions of times. Indonesian President Joko Widodo shared on Facebook a video of himself dining with the king at the presidential palace in Bogor, near the capital Jakarta. In the video, both men comment on the vis- it, the first to Indonesia by a Saudi king in nearly five decades, and give viewers a rare peek into a state event. As Widodo holds what appears to be a phone camera, the king is seen dining before com- menting in Arabic on his 12-day visit to Indonesia, the longest leg of his month-long tour of Asia. “I’m very happy to be here in Indonesia and with the Indonesian people,” King Salman says to the camera, as an interpreter sitting behind him translates into Bahasa Indonesia. The king was also pho- tographed posing for a selfie with former president Megawati Sukarnoputri and her daughter Puan Maharani, who is a member of Widodo’s cabinet.

Abstract Literary Urbanism and the Symbolist Aesthetic argues that the modern city influences urban writers to develop particular literary-visual practices that translate urban experience into poetry and prose. Chapter one considers how urban planning in Paris during the Second Empire inspired Charles Baudelaire‘s theories of modernity and aesthetic history. Chapter two discusses how A.C. Swinburne translates Baudelairean modernity into an English literary perspective through Sapphic poetry, and the importance Swinburne‘s association with painters has in this process. Swinburne‘s friendship with James McNeill Whistler, for example, results in the ekphrastic poem ―Hermaphroditus,‖ which uses sculpture to comment upon the modern city‘s potential to heighten perceptual consciousness. Chapter three studies the application of ekphrasis in urban writing, especially the way in which Arthur Symons‘ poetry uses symbols to render an immediate awareness of the city.
