In Baptism, the fire of God comes to dwell within you. E GOD ENTERS IN FEAR NOT, for I am with you. (Is 43:5) From the beginning of time, God has been pur- suing human hearts with His love, and revealing Himself as the God who is with us. Over and over again He spoke to His chosen people, reassuring and encouraging them: “Fear not, for I am with you” (Is 43:5); “Do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold The World’s Best Kept Secret you with My victorious right hand” (Is 41:10); “Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go” (Jos 1:9). In Jesus, God took on our human flesh to tell us, “I am with you” in an unparalleled and astound- ing way. God became man. Who would dream of asking for anything greater? Yet, God offers us even more. The Incarnation, the ultimate “being with”, wasn’t enough for Him; He wants to dwell not just in the world, but in our souls. He longs to unite Himself to every human person. At your Baptism, the living God came to dwell in your heart, to fill it with the Love you have been searching for from the moment you came to be.     Saints for the Year! Some Catholic communities have a tradition of drawing saints from a hat at the beginning of each New Year. Consider starting this as a tradition in your family or group of friends! Here are the steps: 1. Print out the list of saints below 2. Cut up the list, fold each piece, and place all saints in a bag or box 3. Invite people to choose a saint from the bag, first praying with them a Hail Mary or other prayer during which you ask the Holy Spirit to give the person the saint meant for them 4. Learn about the saint you've chosen, pray for your given prayer intention, and watch how that saint "shows up" in your life throughout the year! Invite non-churchgoers to pick a saint, too! This practice is great for faith-filled friends and family as well as those who might be far away from God and the Church. It's a simple, non-threatening way for someone to take a first step towards God. This list is also posted online at phillyevang.org/resources.
