3RD CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM HELD IN SEPTEMBER IN PORTAGE Join us for the 3rd Annual Celebration of Freedom, as we celebrate our freedom and those who serve and protect! In 2013, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Founda- tion launched its 9/11 NEVER FORGET Mobile Exhibit. It is a tribute to those lost on September 11, 2001, in- cluding the 343 New York City firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice saving and protecting others. The 80-foot trailer transforms into a 1,100 sq. ft. exhibit LEGION HOLDS SUCCESSFUL that educates communities about the events of that trag- ic day. Random Lake wins 2021 Post Excellence Award On Saturday, July 17th Commander Eric Rathke was presented with the 2021 Post Excellence Award for Random Lake Post 145. Additionally, Com- mander was presented with the Wisconsin Ameri- can Legion’s Badger 10 Award and Pin, given to any member that recruits 10 new people within a Goofy's 50-year Membership calendar year. Both of these awards were no small feat because 2020 started with many believing this post was going to fold. Then the Pandemic hit and what could have been a reason to just quit became a rallying call for our leadership and fellow mem- bers. In just seven months, Commander Rathke had recruited 12 additional new members and by the time of this writing, the Post’s membership has reached an almost 70% increase from 24 to 39 members strong! Additionally, our members have collectively pulled together to contribute their time and efforts in meeting at least one or more goals in each of the American Legion’s Four Pillars: Amer- icanism, National Security, Veterans Affairs & Re- habilitation, and Youth & Family programming.
