A Decade of Providing Excellence in Health Care for the Communities We Serve. In this report, which spans a decade from 2006 through 2015, you will learn of ways United Regional has elevated the quality of health care for the communities we serve. Our programs and services have been awarded nationally-recognized certifications for meeting or exceeding the most stringent quality standards. Our safety and quality initiatives have resulted in achieving the highest benchmarking levels. Our highly skilled physicians and staff have the expertise to treat complex medical conditions and perform the latest surgical procedures. Our financial strength has allowed us to reinvest in the most advanced technologies to benefit patient outcomes, build modern and more accessible facilities, bring needed primary care and specialty physicians to the area, and fulfill our strong commitment to provide care for the under and uninsured. Although our accomplishments have been significant, we will never be satisfied with the status quo. PEOPLE PEOPLE During the past decade, United Regional has developed a culture that embraces our passion of providing excellence in health care for the communities we We are all serve – care that is both high quality and compassionate. It starts with recruiting patients skilled staff and physicians and attracting dedicated volunteers. Then we dedicate resources to help ensure that our people stay committed, engaged, passionate, highly capable and healthy. We invest in opportunities for professional growth. From 2006 through 2015, United Regional provided: $1.35 million in financial assistance for 228 employees who wanted to continue their education toward LVN and RN degrees through our School-to-Work Program. This program allows employees to work part time but get paid full-time with benefits while they attend school to obtain their degree. $281,000 in tuition reimbursement for 299 employees to get undergraduate and graduate degrees. United Regional pays a portion of their tuition. 71,680 hours of Leadership Development Institute training. Physician Leadership Academy To help develop new physician leaders in this rapidly changing health care environment, United Regional established the completed the Physician Leadership Academy in 2012. The Academy is Physician Leadership designed to help prepare physicians to serve as effective Academy members or officers of the medical staff and medical staff committees, leaders of group practices, practice associations and medical societies, quality improvement champions, and physician executives. In the first class, 40 physicians completed the Physician Leadership Academy. PEOPLE Our employees give time, talent and resources to help others. Through the United Regional Foundation Spirit of Giving Campaign, employees donate their financial resources to benefit community organizations as well as health care system programs. Promoting Health and Well Being Bee Healthy Program Established in 2009, the Bee Healthy program offers employees the opportunity to identify their personal health risks to help avoid preventable diseases and manage chronic conditions. Employees can participate in ongoing education sessions, one-on-one counseling, exercise classes and annual health screenings. Turning Over a New Leaf – Tobacco Free Environment For the health and well-being of employees, patients and visitors, United Regional implemented a tobacco-free environment in 2010. Use of any type of tobacco product is not allowed inside hospital buildings and outpatient clinics, or on parking lots and sidewalks surrounding the Bethania Building, Bridwell Tower, Rathgeber Hospitality House and Barnett Road Medical Building. PEOPLE Volunteer Services It would be impossible to calculate the monetary worth of the time and talent our volunteers contribute. We continuously measure our performance and no matter how well we do, we look for ways to further improve. We’ve highlighted some of the leading-edge technology that United Regional has invested in to improve patient outcomes and the program and service awards and certifications that we received which help ensure we are providing the highest standards of care. Technology to Benefit Patient Care High quality care includes the technology we use, the expert skill of the physicians and clinical staff who use the technology, and the benefits the technology brings
