Photo courtesy Fire Brigade of Paris On Nov. 13, 2015, the heart of Paris was struck by terrorism. With 130 dead and 352 wounded, it was the deadliest disaster in France since World War II. EMS was once again at the frontline to evacuate the wounded who were exposed to persistent threat and ensure their survival as they were transported to the hospital. The Paris emergency medical system is a two-tiered response system. The rst tier involves BLS and is served by 200 teams of 3-5 professional rescuers each; these teams are deployed to 77 stations of the Fireghting Brigade of Paris. The ALS tier is served by 44 ambulance teams, each comprising an emergency physician, a nurse and a BLS responder who's also tasked with driving. The terrorist attacks occurred within 40 minutes of each other in two distinct geographical areas: the fringes of the Stade de France in the commune of Saint Denis (12 km/7.5 miles north of Paris) and two arrondissements (administrative districts) in eastern Paris. Following three explosions around the Stade de France-the national stadium of France and the fth largest stadium in Europe-rst responders were confronted with 59 victims in an area with a high risk for another attack.

    U.S. Forest Service Southern Region (R8) Southern Region 8 Fire Hire Outreach & Announcement Notice—Fire Positions GS-0462-03 thru GS-0462-09 & WG-5716-08 thru WF-5716-10 April 27, 2020 The Southern Region is looking for a committed, hardworking, highly skilled workforce to suppress wildfires and work in fuels management on 13 National Forests and Grasslands located in Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. The fire and aviation management program are very rewarding and requires talented people working safely as part of a team in a variety of specialized positions; including dispatch, engine crews, fire & fuels management, hand crews, helitack, interagency hotshot crews, and prevention. The Fire Hire program is being implemented to streamline the hiring process for permanent fire positions and provide consistent hiring around the Region and throughout the agency. This hiring process assists the national forests in the Southern Region to fill vacancies in a more efficient and timely manner. This outreach is for GS-0462-03 through GS-0462-09 & WG-5716-08 and WG5716-10 current career permanent fulltime and permanent seasonal fire and fuels positions.
