  • Peace in Palestine Via the World Heritage Convention
. Michael K. Madison II. Peace in Palestine ..........through World Heritage Promoting Peace via Global Conventions - 1 - Peace in Palestine via the World Heritage Convention Promoting Peace via Global Conventions The Global Problem "Throughout history, religious differences have divided men and women from their neighbors and have served as justification for some of humankind's bloodiest conflicts. In the modern world, it has become clear that people of all religions must bridge these differences and work together, to ensure our survival and realize the vision of peace that all faiths share." -- H.R.H. Prince El-Hassan bin Talal, Jordan Moderator, WCRP Governing Board Tolerance, Economic Growth and Fear Global peace and harmony is not possible without religious tolerance. Unfortunately, there is no instant microwavable solution. We can’t just add water and/or milk to the current situation and hope that the world will ameliorate itself overnight. No. The world needs help. The problem is not the outliers; it is larger groups of people that need to change. Outliers will always be present. The world needs religious-minded policymakers to take giant steps that lead to peace, but in a mutually beneficial way. Indeed, peace for peace’s sake is not always enough incentive to all parties involved. Therefore, if the conflict cannot be resolved by tolerance, then let it be resolved by greed as we find a way to help the countries involved to achieve a better economic position. If the conflict cannot be resolved by boosting the corresponding economies, then let it be resolved by fear as we convince the nations involved that one false move means it will be - 2 - their country against the rest of the world and not just their “enemy of the day”.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF ST JAMES IN WIĘCŁAWICE STARE THE MAŁOPOLSKA WAY OF ST JAMES (SANDOMIERZ–WIĘCŁAWICE STARE– CRACOW–SZCZYRK) GUIDE BOOK Kazimiera Orzechowska-Kowalska Franciszek Mróz Cracow 2016 1 The founding of the pilgrimage centre in Santiago de Compostela ‘The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you”’ (Gen 12:1). And just like Abraham, every Christian who is a guest in this land journeys throughout his life towards God in ‘Heavenly Jerusalem’. The tradition of going on pilgrimages is part of a European cultural heritage inseparably connected with the Christian religion and particular holy places: Jerusalem, Rome, and Santiago de Compostela, where the relics of St James the Greater are worshipped. The Way of St James began almost two thousand years ago on the banks of the Sea of Galilee (Lake Tiberias). As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. ‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people’. At once they left their nets and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. (Matthew 4:18‒22) Mortal St James The painting in Basilica in Pelplin 2 The path of James the Apostle with Jesus began at that point.

But the huge deserts, endless steppes and towering mountains were only the physical barriers that the intrepid travellers had to surmount; there were also brigands, wars, unfriendly potentates, natural disasters and disease. Commerce was the chief activity along the route and although it is known as the Silk Road, that precious commodity was only one of the many goods traded from the Mediterranean to the Pacific. Caravans loaded with everything from glass, furs, porcelain, perfume, gems, and carpets to slaves, livestock, spices, mirrors, paper, gunpowder and a thousand other things moved East and West along what has been described as the greatest overland route in the history of mankind. Scholars say the first recorded mention of the Silk Road dates back to around 100 BC when a Chinese expedition set off west to purchase horses in Central Asia where they learned that the silk they had brought was highly prized in the bazaars.

Holy Trinity Armenian Church LOOYS Cheltenham, PA July to September 2013 Hours of Worship Upcoming Events - Morning Service: 10:00 AM So many events upcoming, there is not enough room - Divine Liturgy: 10:30 AM to list them all. Please check them out on the inside. - Sunday Church School: 10:15 AM Come celebrate with Rev. Fr. Hakob Gevorgyan www.holytrinity-pa.org Series of Ten Commandments The Third Commandment “You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses His name” (Exodus 20:7) What’s in a name? A name is a way of saying who we are. A name often reflects a person’s character and personality, for example St. Gregory the Illuminator, St. Vartan the Brave, King Ashot the Iron, etc. In the first commandment we learned that we have been saved by His love and mercy, and in the second commandment we learned to remove false gods from before His face, so that we can see Him alone, follow Him and be saved by Him. Now we’re going to look at the third commandment, the commandment against taking God’s name in vain. We’re going to discover why God reveals His name to us, ways we tend to misuse His name, and ways we can honor that name. In the Old Testament God identifies himself as the same God Israel’s ancestors worshipped, the God of Abraham, The God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob (Exodus 3:6). When Moses asks for God’s name, God says, "I am who I am" (Exodus 3:14) "I am" is God’s way of saying that he’s eternally existent, the living God, who exists in the past, present and future.
