Minor League Report April 16, 2018 | Organizational Record: 22-17 (.564) Minor League Report April 16, 2018 | Organizational Record: 22-17 (.564) SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE REC.: 7-2 PLACE: 1st RAILRIDERS GB: +0.5 TRIPLE-A INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE • The RailRiders went 5-2 last week…took 2-of-3 vs. Lehigh Valley and 3-of-4 at Charlotte…finish the road trip tonight-Wed. with 3G at Gwinnett… batting .289 as a team, the highest average in the International League. • INF Gleyber Torres was named the IL’s Batter of the Week for 4/5-15…has hit safely in eight straight starts…is batting .429 (15-for-35) with 5R, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1HR and 10RBI over the stretch…his 15H are tied for the most in the IL, while his 22 total bases and 10RBI are tied for second in the IL…since 2016, his teams are 71-22 when he scores at least 1R…with SWB from 2017-18, team is 12-2 when he scores 1R-or-more…has split time at 3B (6G), SS (3G) and 2B (1G) in 2018. • INF Abiatal Avelino hit .538 (7-for-13) with 5R, 1 double, 1 triple, 7RBI, 2BB and 3SB over the four-game series at Charlotte…set a career high with 5RBI on 4/12 at Charlotte (3-for-3, 2R, 1 triple, 1BB, 2SB)…is just the second RailRider since at least 2009 to have a 5RBI game with 0HR (other: Austin Jackson on 9/1/09 vs. Syracuse)…currently owns a 6G hitting streak and is batting .500 (10-for-20) with 5R and 8RBI over the stretch…leads the IL with 11RBI this season. • LHP Josh Rogers started and earned the win on 4/12 at Charlotte (7.0IP, 3H, 1ER, 1HR, 10K)…set a career high in strikeouts (prev.: 8K, six times)…retired 10 batters in order from the first into the fourth inning…was the first start by a RailRider of at least 10K and 0BB since RHP Chad Green on 6/16/16 (7.0IP, 11K, 0BB). REC.: 5-6 TAMPA TARPONS PLACE: 2nd GB: -3.0 SINGLE-A FLORIDA STATE LEAGUE • Tampa went 3-4 last week…lost 3-of-4 games at St. Lucie before taking 2-of-3 at Fort Myers…following an off day on Mon., begin a 6G homestand with 3G vs. Daytona (Tues.-Thurs.) and 3G vs. Clearwater (Fri.-Sun.). • OF Isiah Gilliam is hitting .481/.500/.704 (13-for-27) with 5R, 3 doubles, 1HR and 7RBI over his 6G hitting streak…has recorded an RBI in all 6G and multiple hits in 5-of-6G. • RHP Jonathan Loaisiga picked up his second win of the season on 4/13 at Fort Myers (5.0IP, 2H, 5K)…has not allowed a run or issued a walk in 10.0IP this season…opponents are hitting .171 (6-for-35) with 10K off him in 2018. Prospect Profile | RHP Nick Nelson Last Week with Single-A Charleston: 1GS on 4/13 vs. Kannapolis: 5.0IP, 2H, 1R/ER, 3BB, 12K • Recorded his first eight outs via strikeout. • Tied for the most strikeouts in a game by a Charleston pitcher since LHP Caleb Smith (13K) on 4/24/14 vs. Delmarva. • Set a career high in strikeouts (prev.: 8K, twice). • Last season with Single-A Charleston, recorded 110K in 100.2IP…his 9.83 K/9.0IP ratio was sixth-best in the South Atlantic League (min. 100.0IP). • The 22-year-old was originally drafted by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of Gulf Coast State College (Fla.). “Nick is a fierce competitor and he was able to attack the zone with all three of his pitches. He did a nice job bouncing back from a tough first inning. Nick’s stuff is good enough to play at any level, and when he gets ahead of hitters it allows him to expand and get misses with both his plus fastball and curveball. STATEN ISLAND PULASKI GCL YANKEES YANKEES YANKEES EAST & WEST • The 2017 Staten Island Yankees finished 46-29 in 2018 and qualified for the postseason for the third straight season…are slated to start the 2018 season on 6/15 vs. Brooklyn. • The Pulaski Yankees finished second in the Appalachian League East Division with a record of 41-26, qualifying for the playoffs for the second time in three seasons as an affiliate of the Yankees…will begin the 2018 campaign on 6/19 at Danville. • The GCL Yankees East finished off the 2017 season by winning the Gulf Coast League Championship…marked the 12th time a Yankees affiliate has been crowned champion of the Gulf Coast League and the first since 2011…are set to begin the 2018 season on 6/18. • The GCL Yankees West finished in third place in the GCL Northwest Division with a 32-27 record in 2017…start the 2018 season on 6/18. .

In total, the new player development system includes 179 teams across 17 leagues in 43 states and four provinces. Including the AZL and GCL, there are 209 teams across 19 leagues in 44 states and four provinces. That includes the 150 teams in the PDL and AZL/GCL along with the four partner leagues: the American Association, Atlantic League, Frontier League and Pioneer League. The long-time Triple-A structure of the International and Pacific Coast Leagues have been replaced by Triple-A East and Triple-A West. The three days of festivities include a Home Run Derby and concludes with the nationally televised All-Star Game. The game showcases the best players of Triple-A Baseball's Pacific Coast League against those from the International League. "The Triple-A All-Star Game is a marquee event for all of Minor League Baseball," said Minor League Baseball's President and CEO Pat O'Conner. "To bring together the top caliber of players for this event makes it a showcase event. I can think of no better venue to play this game than in El Paso. What has happened in El Paso is no surprise given the first-rate ownership, management and affiliation put together for the passionate fans in the region." This is the second Triple-A Baseball national event hosted at Southwest University Park.
