August 2 Frontier Field 12:35 p.m. RailRiders Won 11-6 READY TO PITCH: In Friday’s Game One, the Rochester Red Wings plated 4-of-5 inherited runners off the RailRiders 2017 Results: bullpen. Several were injured, and others have been getting needed development time in Triple-A. That's finally starting to change. With his "Super Two" status no longer a concern, pitching prospect Cody Reed was called up Saturday. Infielder Jose Peraza is back in the big leagues for the second time. Starting pitcher Anthony DeSclafani has put an oblique injury behind him. Pitchers Michael Lorenzen and Raisel Iglesias could be ready in the near future. "It's exciting because this is what we've all talked about," Price said. "We've anticipated it would happen a little bit sooner. We didn't anticipate the health issues, and didn't think we'd come out of Spring Training with all the issues and injuries. I did anticipate we'd get to the point where these young guys would impact our ballclub, and begin to learn how to play at this level and find their way to success." More help could be coming. Pitcher Robert Stephenson, who already made two spot starts in the big leagues, is performing well at Triple-A Louisville with a 3.29 ERA in 11 starts.

On Wednesday night in downtown Amarillo, the Drillers shattered the long-standing record, crushing nine home runs in an 18-9 win in Game 2 of the TLCS. Jeter Downs hit three of the nine which tied the Tulsa all-time record and set the all-time Tulsa playoff record. The 18 runs and 18 hits were both season-highs for the Drillers. The victory evened the best-of-five series at 1-1. Not to be overshadowed by the excessive offense in Game 2, was the fantastic work of the Drillers bullpen. After the Drillers regained the lead in the top of the second, Luis Vasquez did not allow a run over the next two innings. Michael Boyle followed with three strong innings, allowing only a solo home run. Shea Spitzbarth followed by striking out three and Nolan Long finished off the win by striking out three in the bottom of the ninth.
