The first positive date that may be relied up on in the history of the f m l 10t h I v a i y is the Edward . when , according to e idences ex n 1640 B ar n ar d H utchinson ta t abo ut , it was represented by , of n ad Cowlam , in the co unty of York , and , as he must have been the v anc ed in f n th n ow 1867 f m l li e , it is certai at we may ( trace th e a i y back through a period embracing m ore than six centuries . T fi he authority for the rst six descents rests with Sir Henry St . George , Garter King of Arms , who sometime before his death (which 1644 a occurred in ) prepared a pedigree of the f mily , which , with sub in v sequent additions , remained the possession of the successi e heirs and until the present century , was printed in the quarto edition of the 180 f 6 . Life o Col . John Hutchinson , published in S o far as the pre n bl e sent writer has bee a to investigate that pedigree , he has found i t strictly accurate , and it is therefore adopted without hesitation . It is fair to presu me that by these last t wo matches the s Hutchinson were introduced into Lincolnshire , where they afterwards became very numerous .
