Vista Avenue, Boise, Idaho, at 8:00 a.m. on the 21st day of September 2017 ___________________ The Master shall cause a synopsis of the Abstract of Proceedings to be presented at the first Stated Communication after it is received and shall cause such review to be immediately reported to the Grand Secretary on forms provided by him. The Masters of Constituent Lodges shall make available a copy of the Abstract of Proceedings to his Brethren. The Master’s shall use the Grand Secretary’s abstract for further topics should he deem it necessary throughout the ensuing year. He shall cause one copy of the printed Abstract of Proceedings to be filed for future reference. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 (DDGM Training) 2017-18 District Deputy Grand Master Training 8:30-11:30 a.m. 2017-18 District Deputy Grand Master Training was held nd at the Meridian Lodge No. 47, 800 East 2 St., Meridian Idaho 2017-18 Incoming Grand Lodge Officer Lunch 12:00 p.m. 2017-18 Incoming Grand Lodge Officer Lunch was held at the Meridian Lodge No. 47, 800 East 2nd St., Meridian Idaho Registration / Credentials Opens 2:00- 4:00 p.m. Registration / Credentials was opened in the Teton Room for all to pick up their registration information and credentials packets. Budget Review (Discuss 2018 Budget) 3:00 – 4:00p.m. The Brundage Room was opened for the brothers to come in and ask question about the proposed 2018 Budget. The Accounts and Finance Committee was there to answer any questions Practice for Grand Lodge Officers 3: 30 p.m. Practice for Grand Lodge Officers was held in the Cascade under the direction of the MWGM and the W Grand Marshal. Prelude for the Public Opening was played by W∴ Grand Organist J. Sherwin Wilson the musical selections started the morning. 8:00 a.m. – John Boyer, Worshipful Master of Hagerman Lodge # 78 “Ladies and Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Thursday Morning, Public opening of the 150th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Idaho. Please give your attention to the procession of the Grand Lodge Officers.” The 2016-2017 Grand Lodge officers marched in the room. “Brother Grand Marshal you will present the Most Worshipful Grand Master. It is my pleasure to introduce Brother James A. Hensley, Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Idaho.” James A. Waites W∴ Grand Chaplin “Heavenly Father, as we assemble today with our visiting Brethren and Concordant and Appendant Bodies, we ask your blessing on this 150th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Idaho. As we begin our labors please be with us and give us the guidance necessary to complete our given task. Also, be with us as we rekindle old friendships and start new ones. We ask that you look over the men and women who are serving and protecting this great nation of ours that they may return to their loved ones when their task is complete. This we ask in your Holy Name. Amen “ James A. Hensley, Most Worshipful Grand Master “Worshipful Grand Marshal, you will present the flags.” Presentation of the Flags H. Sherman Burger III, W∴ Grand Marshal Presentation of the Flags Commandery of Knights Templar of Idaho Tribute to the Flag of the United States of America Before us is the 28th and current official flag of our Country. Betsy Ross is widely known as the creator of the original flag of what would become the United States of America. It consisted of 13 stars in a circle on a field of blue and contained 13 stripes – seven red and six white. The “Stars and Stripes represented the colonies that would become the first 13 states. While long recognized as our first flag, it was not adopted by an act of law and was never our “official flag”. The first Official US flag was created by law is a 13-star 13 stripe flag. This flag was adopted by Congressional action on June 14, 1777 and began the design where the stars are in a row. There were alternating rows of three and two stars. George Washington was the only President to hold the office of President under that flag. That flag was adopted while our country operated under the Articles of Confederation and 13 years before the Constitution was adopted by all 13 original states. 3 On May 17, 1795, the 15-star 15 stripe flag, recognizing the addition of Vermont and Kentucky, became our second official flag. This is the only official flag with more than 13 stripes and flew over Ft. McHenry when Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the Star-Spangled Banner. Beginning with our 4th official flag, the 21 Star Flag, adopted on July 4, 1819, stars are added only on July 4th. On July 4, 1867, the 37 Star Flag became the 19th official flag and was the flag of our country when the Idaho Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M.
