And this elite group hand-picked and trained by Honor Harrington herself is going to be needed immediately, as their Worlds of Honor assignment turns out to be more dangerous than anyone expected. As the slavemasters of Mesa plot against the Worlds of Honor Empire of Manticore and the newly liberated slave planet of Torch, Anton Zilwicki and the notorious Havenite secret agent Victor Cachat set off on a dangerous mission to uncover the truth concerning a wave of mysterious assassinations that have been launched against Manticore and Torch. Rear Admiral Michelle Henke was commanding one of the ships in a force led by Honor Harrington in an all-out Worlds of Honor battle. The odds were against the Star Kingdom forces, and they had to run. But Michelle's ship was crippled, and had to be destroyed to prevent superior Manticoran technology from falling into Havenite hands, and she and her surviving crew were taken prisoner. Sometimes things don't work out exactly as planned. The Mesan Alignment has a plan - one it's been working on for centuries. A plan Worlds of Honor remake the galaxy and genetically improve the human race - its way. Until recently things have gone pretty much as scheduled, but then the Alignment hit a minor bump in the road called the Star Empire of Manticore. So the Alignment engineered a war between the Solarian League, the biggest and Worlds of Honor formidable interstellar power in Worlds of Honor history. There are two sides to any Worlds of Honor Queen Elizabeth of Manticore's first cousin and Honor Harrington's best friend Michelle Henke has just handed the "invincible" Solarian League Navy the most Worlds of Honor, one-sided defeat in its entire almost thousand-year history in defense of the people of the Star Empire's Talbott Quadrant. But the League is the most powerful star nation in the history of humanity. Its navy is going to be Worlds of Honor — and this time with thousands of superdreadnoughts. The Mesan Alignment: a centuries-old cabal that seeks Worlds of Honor impose its vision of a society dominated by genetic rank onto the human race. Old coalitions have disintegrated. New alliances have been born. What price victory? The war with the Republic of Haven has resumed. Everyone knows Eighth Fleet is the Alliance's primary offensive command, which makes it the natural assignment for the woman the media calls "the Salamander. After the disastrous attack on the Manticoran home system by forces unknown, Worlds of Honor Royal Manticoran Navy stands on the brink of collapse. A shadowy enemy with the resources to hurl warships across hundreds of light years seeks to conquer the Star Kingdom for reasons unknown, while forces from within Manticore's own government seek to Worlds of Honor and weaken the Navy for reasons very much known: their own political gain. Stephanie Harrington had always expected to be a forest ranger on her homeworld of Meyerdahl until her parents relocated to the frontier planet of Sphinx in the far distant Star Kingdom of Manticore. It should have been the perfect new home - a virgin wilderness full of new species of every sort, just Worlds of Honor to be discovered. But Sphinx is a far more dangerous place than ultra-civilized Meyerdahl, and Stephanie's explorations come to a sudden halt when her parents lay down the law: no trips into the bush without adult supervision! The Star Kingdom of Manticore and the Republic of Haven have been enemies for Honor Harrington's entire life, and she has paid a price for the victories she's achieved in that conflict. And now the unstoppable juggernaut of the mighty Solarian League is on a collision course with Manticore. The millions who have already died may have been only a foretaste of the billions of casualties just over the horizon, and Honor sees it coming. Growing up, Travis Uriah Long yearned for order and discipline in his life Boot camp is rough and frustrating; his first ship assignment lax and disorderly; and with the Star Kingdom of Manticore still recovering from a devastating plague, the Navy is possibly on the edge of budgetary extinction. Lieutenant Travis Long of the Royal Manticoran Navy is the sort of person who Worlds of Honor an orderly universe. One where people follow the rules. Unfortunately he lives in the real universe. The good news is that Travis is one of those rare people who may like rules but has a talent for thinking outside them when everything starts coming apart. That talent has stood him - and the Star Kingdom - in good stead in the past, and it's one reason he's now a "mustang" - an ex-enlisted man who's been given a commission. Lady Dame Honor Harrington - starship captain, admiral, Steadholder, and Duchess - has spent decades defending the Star Kingdom of Manticore against all comers. Along the way, she has become the legend known as "the Salamander" from her habit of always being where the fire is hottest But it's a big universe, and Honor's actions affect a lot of lives, not all of them human. And their actions affect her - a lesson "Ms. Midshipwoman Harrington" learns years before rising to command rank, when a desperate battle against "pirates" who aren't quite what they seem begins her brilliant career. Closer to home, in "Changer of Worlds" a secret that the alien treecats have kept from their human friends for hundreds of years is about to come out Meanwhile, Eric Flint weighs in with "From the Highlands". Honor can't be everywhere, so when the People's Republic of Haven tries to stage a political assassination Worlds of Honor Earth, Worlds of Honor Zilwicki - husband of one of the Star Kingdom's most revered military martyrs, and father of a young woman who is clearly a chip off the old block - steps into the breach I personally like the Honor Harrington series. It is military science fiction. This is not usually my favorite genre, but this series is well written. This book contains great short stories that fill in Honor's background or flesh out that universe. Good stuff. Written by the master. Beginning of the story "That looks like your snotty, Senior Chief. It was Worlds of Honor sort of voice in which a Marine traditionally informed one of the Navy's "vacuum-suckers" that his trousers had just caught fire or something equally exhilarating, and Senior Chief Petty Officer Roland Shelton ignored the jarhead's tone with the lofty disdain of any superior life form for an evolutionary inferior. Yet it was a bit harder than usual this time as his eyes followed the corporal's almost invisible nod and picked the indicated target out of the crowded space dock gallery. She was certainly someone's snotty, he acknowledged without apparently so much as looking in her direction. Her midshipwoman's uniform was immaculate, but both it and the tethered counter-grav locker towing behind her were so new he expected to hear her squeak. There was something odd about Worlds of Honor locker, too, as if something else half its size had been piggybacked onto it, although he paid that little attention. Midshipmen were always turning up with oddball bits and pieces of personalized gear that they hoped didn't quite violate Regs. Half the time they were wrong, but there Worlds of Honor be Worlds of Honor enough to straighten that out later if this particular snotty came aboard Shelton's ship. And, he conceded, she seemed to be headed for War Maiden's docking tube, Worlds of Honor that might simply be a mistake on her part. Do Worlds of Honor remember when treecats moved to Grayson? Worlds of Honor story gives us the reason for "immigration" and gives interesting insight into Treecat politics and customs. It is interesting because introduces a lot of characters which will Worlds of Honor a major role in future books. BTW we already encountered Anton Zilwicki and his daughter once before, I will leave it up to you to remember when. This is another anthology in David Weber's . If you are unfamiliar with the Honorverse, this is not the place to start. I will review the stories individually: "MS. This is a cruise that acts as the final exam for students at Manticore's naval Worlds of Honor. The editorial review calls this a short novel, and it is rather long. Worlds of Honor liked the first part where Honor is adjusting to life on board the ship. Then there is a longish middle section that I Worlds of Honor quite dull in which we hear over and over again how stupid her supervisor is. Weber keeps telling us that he is supported by his friends in the aristocracy, but I had trouble believing that any help short of God's could have gotten someone this stupid through a supposedly challenging naval academy and then years and years aboard ship. And having read all the novels, I know that he will eventually become an admiral. Worlds of Honor inability to believe in all that, made this section of the story irritating to listen to. But then at the end, Weber comes through with some great action again, so the story isn't a complete loss. My score: 2. This tells the story of what happens when Honor takes them back to Sphinx where they go to Worlds of Honor Nimitz's new mate to his clan. It wasn't a long story, but it was all talk. No action. If you love the Honorverse, you want to know the information that is conveyed in this story, but frankly it's not all that thrilling a read. It is a long story. It involves Anton Zilwicki, Worlds of Honor wife was killed in protecting her convoy from Havenites. And it involves Victor Cachat, the Havenite spy. In this story, Zilwicki's daughter is kidnapped. Will he be able to get her back? I don't particularly like the long passages in Weber's novels which take place among the people of Haven, so I have chosen not to listen to this story. If you aren't already familiar with the Honorverse, this probably isn't the place to start. The best place to start would probably be with the first full-length novel in the series, "On Basilisk Station. The main thrust of Worlds of Honor story involves a stray treecat that shows up at a human home asking for help. The main helpers in the story turn out to be Dr. Scott MacDallan and his treecat, Fisher. The story of how Scott and Fisher met is told in flashback. I like this story quite well: 4 stars. The title of the story relates to an analysis of what Worlds of Honor will stand to gain AND lose if he does so. Quite Worlds of Honor 4 stars. The king of Manticore is assassinated. The story revolves around the investigation of his murder and the consequences to the conspirators. I thought both were ludicrously unlikely. Imagine or remember the investigation around the assassination of the American President. In this story, you Worlds of Honor not the leader of a single country but the leader of three planets, and the investigation is carried out by the new queen's boyfriend and a semi-retired palace guard. Give me a break. I don't want to provide spoilers or I could go on at length. Also, I hated the ending. Anyway, I read some reviews on Amazon and some people liked it, so you Worlds of Honor want to try it. My Worlds of Honor 2 stars. It involves a young Honor when she is the executive officer of a ship, and it introduces us to Susan Hibson as a teenager. In most Honorverse stories, the dangers come from other people and politics. In this one, nature is the bad guy. Insight into true heroism. Worlds of Honor give it 5 stars. Green I first read this anthology several years ago, and in coming back to it on Audible, I had absolutely no recollection of this particular story, although I remembered the main plot points of all the other stories. In reading through reviews on Amazon, no one seemed to Worlds of Honor this story, so I've chosen not to listen to it at this time. No review. This series World of Honor is only for Worlds of Honor people who have read all the books Worlds of Honor the Honor series. This series is a collection of short stories which act as a fill in of more detail of items mentioned in the main series. Worlds of Honor as telling how and why the Royal family obtain their tree cats. I enjoy the stories about the tree Worlds of Honor so I enjoyed the first group of stories in this book. I also enjoyed the story of Honor as a Lt Commander and her helping in the rescue of the victims of the avalanche. I am hooked on the Honor series so I grab at all books that provide more information about the world of Honor. Again we see the story of adoption. The first Monarch who was ever adopted by treecat was Princess Adrienne. The story tells about adoption and events which led to formation of Copper Wall Battalion, the Elite group which had responsibility of guarding Manticoran Monarchs. Natural Disaster On Griffin, this story tells about rescue mission. Smooth reading. What did you love best about Worlds of Honor of Honor?
