A RESOLUTION TO REMEMBER AND HONOR THE VICTIMS OF THE SHOOTING Resolution Number: 80 Authored By: Senator Flangas, Senator Kuykendall, Senator Thummel, and Senator Martinez Sponsored By: 2017-2018 Student Government Assembly

Whereas, on the night of October 1st, 2017, our Battle-Born state and the city of Las Vegas experienced the deadliest mass shooting of modern United States history;

Whereas, as of the morning of October 4th, 58 men and women lost their lives and more than 527 suffered injuries in this tragic event;

Whereas, we, as Americans and as students in this great state of Nevada, have been personally impacted by these events.

Whereas, twenty percent of our student body are Clark County residents.

Whereas, we, the Associated Students of the University of Nevada, want to recognize the heroic actions of the Las

Vegas Police Department, the Las Vegas Fire Department, the many medical professionals and paramedics, and any and every citizen who responded and acted selflessly to assist and protect fellow citizens and people through whatever means available.

Be it resolved that, though the Associated Students of University of Nevada cannot minimize the pain felt by the families and of those in our own University of Nevada, Reno community who were personally affected, we extend our sincerest condolences.

Be it further resolved that, this resolution will hang on the wall in the Center for Student Engagement, on the third floor of the Joe Crowley Student Union, and in the Pennington Student Achievement Center on the University of Nevada, Reno campus framed with a Nevada flag to permanently remember and to honor the victims of this infamous night.
