Ben Jbir, A. Haddad INTRODUCTION: According to a 2005 report from the Primary Health Care Branch, 30% to 40% of first line consultations (in the centers) are for mental disorders. Worldwide, an estimated 450 million people worldwide have neuropsychiatric conditions. In the elderly, a psychiatric illness may manifest itself in atypical forms and may be difficult to differentiate from aging or somatic disease. MATERIAL AND METHOD: This is a retrospective study conducted in 2014 on 140 patients followed at the 10 basic health centers. These centers are recruited by random draw among the 28 centers. The data come from questionnaires and annual reports from the centers already recruited. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Our patients represent 29% of all patients with mental disorders and 0.07 / 100,000 inhabitants. The age of our patients is between 4 and 90 years old with an average age of 47 years. There is a male predominance (5 the prevalence of mental disorders continues to rise. HTA and Diabetes are present in 26% and 11% respectively. Other antecedents (dysthyroidism, operative procedures ...) are rarer. 27% of our patients are smokers, 20% adopt the neffa and 2% are alcohol drinkers. According to the studies, alcohol problems (dependence or abuse) are observed in 7% of men and 1.5% of women, and drug problems in 4% of men and 1% of women. 92% of our patients have average economic conditions. Common mental disorders are nearly twice as common among the poor as among the rich. Poverty and its associated factors such as lack of social security coverage, low educational level, unemployment and racial, ethnic or linguistic minority status are all obstacles to accessing care. 32% of our patients have a chronic Psychosis followed by the epileptic present in 31.5%. The anxioderessive syndrome is present in 8.5% of cases.2% of the cases are men). In elderly 50%of our patient have dementia, 30% have depression, 10% have epilepsy and 10% have other psychoses CONCLUSIONS: Mental and behavioral disorders profoundly disrupt the lives of those affected and their families. The economic consequences are profound, multiple and lasting. These disorders entail a range of costs for the individual, his family and the community as a whole. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ La Société Tunisienne de Gériatrie & Le Syndicat Tunisien des Médecins Libéraux de Medenine 1èr congrès Franco-Tunisien de Gériatrie 1èr congrès National de la Société Tunisienne de Gériatrie Djerba 26/27 Octobre 2019 3ème Journée de Gériatrie du Sud ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OF MALNUTRITION AND ITSCORRELATION WITH OTHER GERIATRIC SYNDROMES AND COMORBIDITYAMONG THE ELDERLY I. El Echi, A. El Echi, V. Litteu, S. Hammami Geriatric department, Grand Hôpital de Charleroi, Notre Dame, Belgique Introduction: Malnutrition has emerged as an important problem among elderly and it is associated with several diseases, increased mortality, fragility, susceptibility to infection and reduced quality of life. Aim: Our aim was to assess the nutritional status of our elderly patients and its association with other geriatric syndromes. Methods: In this cross-sectional population based study, Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) test was used to evaluate nutritional status of elderly patients aged over 65 years who were admitted in the geriatric department of the Grand Hospital de Charleroi in Belgium between January 2018 and March 2018.A standard comprehensive geriatric assessment was conducted at their admission. Presence of pre-specified comorbidities, dementia, and ADL dependency were assessed. Nutritional status estimated with the help of MNA test results were compared with the laboratory findings and established geriatric syndromes. Results: In total, 126 older patients were analyzed. Overall, 55,8% was malnourished (MN) and 41,7% was at risk of malnutrition (ARMN). The highest prevalence of (risk of) malnutrition was observed within women (79,1% being malnourished and 68% being at risk of malnutrition), those who are complaining of anorexia (60% being ARMN and 85,7% being malnourished) and in patients with dementia (50,7% MN). ADL dependency (Belgian KATZ score) were impaired in older people with malnutrition in comparison with individuals with normal nutritional status (p =0.002). Patients with poor nutritional status had high blood CRP with a significant correlation (p=0,012). Conclusion: Malnutrition risk was significantly increased in patients with low appetence, impaired cognitive functions, functional dependency and high blood CRP. Therefore increased risk of malnutrition in the elderly is multi factorial. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ La Société Tunisienne de Gériatrie & Le Syndicat Tunisien des Médecins Libéraux de Medenine 1èr congrès Franco-Tunisien de Gériatrie 1èr congrès National de la Société Tunisienne de Gériatrie Djerba 26/27 Octobre 2019 3ème Journée de Gériatrie du Sud ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
