It is my great pleasure to give a note on our Seva activities. SERVICE: With Swami’s abundant grace, the Sai Brothers of Nagai District were blessed with immense Seva opportunities. Even though our district was terribly affected by Gaja cyclone, Swami provided us so many opportunities to serve the needy. SPIRITUAL Swami had blessed us a lot by providing abundant opportunities like Nagarsankirtan, Bhajan, House Bhajan, Study circle etc. Everyday Nagarsankirtan and Margazhi Mahotsavam Nagarsankirtan were performed in major adopted villages of our district. EDUCATION Our District youth wing continuously Thanking Swami for providing opportunities to serve in 25 Adopted school (Under Vidya Jyothi Project) other than this project more than 30 Guru's are taking Balavikas classes Sri Sathya Sai SevaOrganisations – an introduction The Sri Sathya Sai SevaOrganisations, founded by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the year 1965, is a service organisation with a spiritual core and base to benefit all mankind irrespective of religion, caste, creed or sect. The Organisation serves as a platform for its members to undertake service and other activities motivated by an urge for one's own transformation with the aim of realising one's inherent divinity. Without any distinction of religion, nationality, race, socioeconomic status, either for those who work in the Organisation or for those who are served by it, the Organisation transcends all barriers leading humanity towards the ideal of 'Fatherhood of God and Brotherhood of Man'. The concept of fees or membership subscription is alien to the Sri Sathya Sai SevaOrganisations, for there cannot be any fee or subscription for one's journey towards his own self. The organisation functions through its primary units called as Samithis and Bhajan Mandalis of which individuals – from different strata of society, different ethnic groups pursuing different religions and faiths -are members bound by the dictum of “Love all, Serve All” and pursue their own sadhana towards self-transformation following the path of selfless service to humanity. At no point is an individual asked to follow a certain religion or rituals. On the contrary each is inspired to follow his own faith so as to ensure that a Hindi becomes a better Hindu, a Muslim becomes a better Muslim, a Christian becomes a better Christian and so on. In fact, this spiritual basis inspires everyone to pursue his own religion better by putting into practice Love and Selflessness. That is why the Organisation features in its emblem the symbols of the major religions of the world. In addition, the ten principles that forms the core of guidance for all the members of the Organisation as ordained by Baba himself are also produced hereunder. With around 11 Samithis and 7 Bhajan Mandalis, the Organisation serves as a platform for its members to undertake spiritual practices through its various wings such as spiritual, education and service for their own betterment. Introduction Number of taluks 8 i) Geographical location of the district Number of revenue 906 villages Thanjavur district lies between 9º 50’ and 11º 25’ North latitude and 78º 45’ and Revenue Taluk 79º 25’ East longtitude. It is bounded on the villages North by Thiruchirapalli and Cuddalore districts, on the East by Tiruvarur and Kumbakonam 124 Nagapattinam districts, on the South by Palk Orathanadu 125 Strait and Pudukottai district and on the west by Pudukkottai district and Tiruchirapalli Papanasam 120 districts. Total geographical area of the district is 3,602.86 sq.km. This constitutes Pattukkottai 175 just 2.77 % of the area of the State. Thiruvidaimarudur 89 iii) Meteorological information The mean maximum temperature was 37.48ºC during May – July. Similarly, the mean minimum temperature was 20.82ºC during November-January. The north east monsoon provides much rainfall with 545.7 mm and 953.2 as normal and actual rainfall respectively, while southwest monsoon provides 342 and 303.1 mm as normal and actual rainfall respectively. During May, dust storms, whirlwinds and dusty winds flow from various directions. The south west winds that set in during April, become strong in June and continue till September Cyclonic storms of high velocity affect the district once in 3 or 4 years during November - December. 2 2.
