In tune with the Vision and Mission of the University right from the top person to the non-teaching employee, everybody leads the lifestyle of a yogi to remain healthy, peaceful and at the same time useful to the family and the society at large. Everybody is familiar with the basic principles of simple and exemplary lifestyle with holistic health. Each individual is imbued with the spirit of yoga so that, he/she can anywhere easily inspire anybody to take to the yoga way of life and this “Be and Make” is reflected in all our programmes including Research, Teaching-learning process and Extension activities. The proof of it can be seen in the recognition of our proud alumnus Dr. John Ebnezer, when Government of India honoured him with Padmashree award on 12th of April 2016. It was a precious moment for S-VYASA, since our Chancellor Dr. HR Nagendra was honored with Padmashree award on the same occassion.     IQAC Initiatives towards Professional Development Program Development of individual employees is vital for Institutional growth. St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (Autonomous) encourages learning for its own sake. In this background, the IQAC took the initiative to design and conduct many programs for both teaching and non-teaching staff members termed as employee development programs for the non-teaching staff members and professional development programs for the faculty members. The faculty members of the institution were also encouraged to attend faculty development program in the college as well as outside the college. The faculty members of the Institution have attended many number of Orientation Program, Refresher Course, Short Term Course, and Faculty Development Program during the last five years. They have also represented the Institution in their professional capacity in various seminars, workshops, college committee and have delivered guest lectures, keynote addresses, chaired session, were a member of panel discussions. Mr. Giridara Naidu B, attended a faculty development program organized by ENACTUS India Infosys BPO, Mysore on 29-30th June, 2015. He hails from Dharwad, a place which has given to the world many great musicians like Pt Bhimsen Joshi, Gangubai Hangal and Pt Kumar Gandharva. He is fortunate to have his father Pandit VENKATESH GODKHINDI, an eminent vocalist and Bansuri arCste of the country, as his first and only Guru for Flute. Pravin started toying with a small flute at the tender age of 3 and since then it has been his best companion. His passion for Flute could hardly be matched with anything else even during his childhood. With such a passion blended with early hours of rigorous Riyaz under the able guidance of his guru, Pravin started exhibiCng the glimpses of a genius in the making. Pravin gave his first public concert at the age of 6 years and held the audience spellbound. His quest for deeper knowledge about LAYAKAARI brought him to his Guru, Vidwan ANOOR ANANTH KRISHNA SHARMA a reputed Mridangam arCste who is providing able guidance to Pravin on the deeper aspects of LAYA and LAYAKAARI. TWO DIFFERENT STYLES OF PLAYING: His father has taught him Hindustani BANSURI in KIRANA GHARAANA GAYAKI STYLE. But Pravin added the GATKAARI or TANTRAKAARI STYLE by his own efforts and succeeded in it. He is adept in both the styles. Sonorous blowing, control over the breath, elaboraCons of Raga with its aestheCc appeal, extraordinary and skillful rendiCon of Layakaari are but a few salient features of his flute recital. He has been ably balancing both tradiConal and creaCve music.
