Tagesausflüge in den Sommerferien: Phantasialand und Efteling Zwei Tagesausflüge bietet das Kinder- und Jugendbüro in den kommenden Sommerferien an: Erst geht es in den Freizeitpark Phantasialand nach Brühl und eine Woche später in die Niederlande in den Freizeitpark Efteling. Am Mittwoch, 13. Juli, startet der Ausflug in das Phantasialand. Auf der Suche nach packendem Nervenkitzel, einer gehörigen Portion Bauchkribbeln und dem absoluten Fahrspaß kommt im Phantasialand die ganze Familie auf ihre Kosten. Die mehrfach ausgezeichneten Action-Highlights wie die „Black Mamba“ oder der Freefall-Tower „Mystery Castle“ bieten den ganz besonderen Kick, während Wasserattraktionen wie „River Quest“ und „Chiapas“ für eine erfrischende Abkühlung sorgen. Der 3D- Funride „Maus au Chocolat“, das „Funhouse“ oder das verrückte „Hotel Tartüff“ garantieren großen Spaß. In den Phantasialand- Shows treffen ausgefeilte Choreografien auf mitreißende Songs, wagemutige Stunts werden den Zuschauern den Atem rauben und hochkarätige Artistik lässt einen in phantastische Welten eintauchen. Abfahrt ist um 08.00 Uhr am Hallenbad an der Lessingstraße. Der Teilnehmerpreis beträgt 40 € pro Person. Kinder bis einschließlich 12 Jahren müssen von einer Aufsichtsperson begleitet werden. Der Freizeitpark Efteling in den Niederlanden ist dann am Dienstag, 19. Juli. das Ziel. 1952 als Märchenwald gegründet, ist Efteling in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu einem der größten Freizeitparks Europas herangewachsen. Dem Märchenthema ist Efteling dabei immer treu geblieben. Auf einer Fläche von 100 Fußballfeldern erwecken Attraktionen, Shows und Restaurants international bekannte Sagen und Legenden zum Leben. Neben dem Freizeitpark gehören ein Hotel, ein Ferienpark und ein Golfplatz zu Efteling. Abfahrt ist um 07.00 Uhr am Hallenbad. Der Teilnehmerpreis beträgt 45 € pro Person. Auch bei dieser Fahrt müssen Kinder bis einschließlich 12 Jahren von einer Aufsichtsperson begleitet werden. The goal? To devise an empirically founded categorisation of theme park attractions. That task may seem simply at first, but when looking at attractions in the likes of, to name but a few, Tower of Terror, Hocus Pocus Hall, The Flying Dutchman, Lisebergtower, Hex or Dragon Khan, it will seen become apparent that each and every of these attractions is highly unique. As the seemingly endless imagination and the incredible skills that come into play in converting the most impossible of ideas into reality was part of what raised my interest in the theme park industry many years ago, that didn’t come as a surprise. It did, however, make things considerably more difficult. Luckily, I wasn’t on my own in taking on this challenge. First and foremost I would like to thank my supervisor Pieter Cornelis; I would not have been able to finish my thesis without his support, guidance, wisdom and ruthless criticism. Roller coasters are iconic structures that provide safe thrills for riders. Safety is achieved using multiple safety mechanisms: for example, bogies have multiple wheels that hold trains on track, a block system prevents trains from colliding and riders are held in place with safety restraints. Regular maintenance checks are also performed to prevent accidents caused by failed parts. Roller coasters are designed using a heartline spline and calculating accelerations in all possible scenarios to prevent rollbacks and too high values of accelerations, which could cause damage to riders’ bodies. A reach envelope is applied to the spline to prevent riders from hitting nearby objects. The speed and curvature of the track combined create acceler- ations that need to be countered with adequate track and support structures. A track cross- section usually consists of rails, cross-ties and a spine, while support structures can vary depending on height and loads.

Press Release Düsseldorf, Germany, 30th January 2021 Winners of this year's FKF-Awards announced Members of the FKF e.V. voted on European novelties 2020 On Saturday, 30th January 2021, the winners of this year's FKF-Awards were announced. The announcement took place during the FKF Convention 2021 Online, a virtual alternative programme to the previously cancelled face-to-face event. Since 2003, the FKF-Award has been presented by the Freundeskreis Kirmes und Freizeitparks e.V. (FKF) and honours special European novelties of the previous year by amusement parks and showmen. The FKF-Award in the funfair category went to the Dutch showman Niek Moonen for the ride Toxic. The Speed Flip from Moser Rides travelled under a different showman until 2012 and had been in storage since then. The re-themed and very wild ride is guaranteed to create a great atmosphere at any fairground. The second FKF-Award goes to Erlebnispark Tripsdrill. The Suspended Family Coaster Hals-über-Kopf, built by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma, won in the roller coaster category. Four inversions and various crossings with the Family Boomerang Volldampf, which opened at the same time, ensure lots of fun for young and old visitors! Phantasialand won in the park category for its new steampunk themed world Rookburgh. The highlight of the highly immersive area is a Flying Coaster from the manufacturer Vekoma. The themed world also includes a hotel with a bar, a restaurant, a chocolate factory and a sandwich stall. The unique overall experience impressed the members of the association. Every year, the attractions worthy of an award are nominated by the over 1.300 association members themselves.
