German-Italian Innovation Conference (Berlin, Italian Embassy, 29th November 2017) “Investing in Italian Innovation: Digital Solutions and the challenge of Industry 4.0” Speakers’ Biographies “Investing in Italian Innovation: Digital Solutions and the challenge of Industry 4.0” 8.45-9.30 - The challenge of Industry 4.0 MARCO TAISCH Politecnico di Milano Professor of the Department of Economics, Management and Industrial Engineering of the Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), School of Management He is a member of the Board of EFFRA (the European Factories of the Future Public Private Partnership), of the Board of the Italian Cluster of the Intelligent Factory and of the Board of the Lombardy Regional (cluster of Intelligent Factory). He is the Scientific Chairman of the World Manufacturing Forum, since its first edition in 2011 and currently, sits in the Steering Committee of the Italian National Plan Industry 4.0 coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. He is part of the Manufacturing Group, working in the field of Smart and Digitized Manufacturing, Energy Efficient Manufacturing, Sustainable Mass Customization, Internet of Things, Internet of Services and Cyber-Physical Systems STEFANO FIRPO Director General for Industrial Policy, Competitiveness and SMEs, Italian Ministry for Economic Development Since March 2015, Director General for Industrial Policy, Competitiveness and SMEs at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development In 2002 he started as manager in Sanpaolo IMI (later Intesa Sanpaolo bank), working on the CEO’s strategic operations and special projects. In 2011, he joined the Ministry as chief of technical staff, focusing on industrial development and the use of innovation. Afterwards, he has continued to work for the Ministry drafting laws in favor of competitiveness, growth and the digital agenda. He was also Economic Consultant for the European Central Bank in Frankfurt and now he is Board Member of Fondazione Einaudi in Turin. GIULIANO BUSETTO President, ANIE (Italian Electrical Engineering & Electronic Industry) and Industrial Divisions CEO, Siemens S.p.A. Graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Politecnico of Milan, Busetto began his Siemens career in July 2002 as Industrial Solutions & Services Division Manager. In 2008, he was appointed Country Sector CEO of the Industry Sector. Since 2014 Sector’s activities, managed by Busetto, are structured in two divisions: Digital Factory - components, systems, solutions and services for manufacturing industries and industrial software digitalization technologies - and Process Industries & Drives, focused on turnkey solutions and drive train for continuous process industries. Both Divisions are at the top positions of the world ranking of Siemens. He is the founding partner of the Italian branch of the firm, which he contributed to opening in 1993. With more than 25 years of professional activity, Wolf Michael Kühne is an experienced corporate adviser, and has gained specific expertise in supporting clients in the strategy and operations aspects of extraordinary cross-border and complex matters. He is widely recognised as a leading practitioner in the bilateral relationships between Italy and Germany. RAFFAELE RUSSO Senior advisor to the Minister of Economy and Finance Senior Advisor to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Raffaele Russo was previously Head of the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Project at the OECD Centre for Tax Policy and Administration. Previously, Raffaele was Head of the Non- Compliance Unit at the OECD Centre for Tax Policy and Administration, in charge of the work on Aggressive Tax Planning. Before joining the OECD, he was a Senior Associate at the International Tax Academy of the IBFD (Amsterdam) and a Tax Lawyer with NCTM Studio Legale Associato (Milan). He obtained his Law Degree from the University Federico II (Naples, Italy), and his LLM in International Taxation from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, both cum laude. VALERIO DE MOLLI Partner and CEO, The European House – Ambrosetti Valerio De Molli has been Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer of The European House - Ambrosetti since 2005 and Partner since 1999. He led, with other partners, the management buyout of the company in 2008. He is also Director of London’s Ambrosetti Group Limited, Senior Advisor of the most important Italian Venture Capital Fund, United Ventures, and Mentor of the Kairos Society, an association of young American entrepreneurs. He has been a member of YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization) since 2011. Since 1992, he has been responsible for The European House - Ambrosetti’s Forum “Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy”, which is held every September at Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, Italy. He joined the diplomatic service in 1993. Head of the economic-commercial office of the Embassies in Lima (1997-2001) and Amman (2001-2004), Consul General in Casablanca (2006-2010) and deputy Ambassador and head of the Political Office in Ottawa (2010-2014). At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, he worked at the Diplomatic Protocol (1993-1995), the Directorate-General for Political Affairs (1995-1997), the Directorate-General for Italians Citizens Abroad and Migration Policies (1994-96) and the Directorate-General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, where he currently is Principal Director for International Business Promotion. Since March 2013 he has been appointed Councilor for Economic Development in the Latium Regional Government; in July 2014 appointed Coordinator of the Italian Regions in the Task Force for Space Policy; from November 1998 to March 2013 Prof. Guido Fabiani was Rector of Roma Tre University. Since 1971, he has been Professor at the Universities of Modena, Naples, Rome and Salerno, teaching theory of planning, agricultural economics and policy, agricultural market economics and environmental economics.
