DEPARTMENT OF FOLKLORE University of Kalyani COURSE CURRICULA OF M.A. IN FOLKLORE (Two- years Master’s Degree Programme under the Scheme of CBCS) Session: 2017-2018 and onwards As recommended by the Post Graduate Board of Studies (PGBoS) in Folklore in the meeting held on May 05, 2017 OPERATIONAL ASPECTS A. Timetable: 1) Class-hour will be of 1 hour and the time schedule of classes should be from 10.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. with 30 minutes lunch-break during 1.30 to 2.00 p.m., from Monday to Friday. Thus there shall be maximum 6 classes a day. 2) Normal 16 class-hours in a week may be kept for direct class instructions. The remaining 14 hours in a week shall be kept for Tutorial, Dissertation, Seminar, Assignments, Special Classes, holding class-tests etc. as may be required for the course. B. Course-papers and Allocation of Class-Hours per Course: 1) For evaluation purposes, each course shall be of 100 marks and for each course of 100 marks total number of direct instruction hours (theory/practical/field-training) shall be 48 hours. 2) The full course in 4 semesters shall be of total 1600 marks with total 16 courses (Fifteen Core Courses & One Open Course). In each semester, the course work shall be for 4 courses of total 400 marks. C. Credit Specification of the Course Curricula: M.A. Course in Folklore shall comprise 4 semesters. Each semester shall have 4 courses. In all, there shall be 16 courses of 4 credits each. -

Abstract Webometrics is concerned with measuring aspects of the web: web sites, web pages, parts of web pages, words in web pages, hyperlinks, web search engine results. Webometrics is huge and easily accessible source of information, there are limitless possibilities for measuring or counting on a huge scale of the number of web pages, the number of web sites, the number of blogs) or on a smaller scale. This study found the traffic rank in India, especially Central Universities of North East Region, the best-ranked Central University of North East Region are NEHU and TU with traffic ranks of 8484 and 8,511 respectively. Nagaland University has the highest number of average pages viewed by users per day (4.1), Sikkim University has highest (55.7%) upstream site of Google among other Central Universities of North East Region in India, 100% of sub domain at “manipuruniv.ac.in” for Manipur University website and “cau.ac.in” for Central Agricultural University. -
Overview of Centre for Endangered Languages
1 2 Centre for Endangered Languages The Centre for Endangered Languages, Rajiv Gandhi University, is a University Grant Commission sponsored centre. The Centre was has been actively functioning since 2016. The main purpose of CFEL, RGU is its multidisciplinary approach. The research team comprises of scholars from linguistics, anthropology, folklore, tribal studies and mass communication. Presently, the Centre is focusing on field survey, documentation, and analysis of the critically endangered languages of Arunachal Pradesh. It is also studying these speech communities in their socio-cultural contexts. The Centre successfully carried out four field studies and documentations in the remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh. It also successfully conducted four workshops related to language and cultural documentation. Two monographs on Tangam and Kasik/Khapa are in publication process. The Centre has also produced an award winning Documentary Film ‘Ngok Miri Dekke Yoyo-Gaga Goktuanam Kiding’ (Those songs & lullabies I used to sing) by Kombong Darang. The Centre is working on more short films, monographs and awareness programmes with the purpose of making eminent academic contributions. 2015- 2016 A total amount of 1 Crore and 80 Lakhs was sanctioned by UGC on April 2014 for the Centre and the first installment of Rs. 90 Lakhs was received during August 2015 and the following activities have been carried out by the centre during 2015- 2016. ➢ APPOINTMENT OF THE COORDINATOR: Rajiv Gandhi University have appointed Prof. Simon John Arunachal Institute of Tribal Studies as the coordinator of the Center for Endangered languages. ➢ NOTIFICATION FOR THE RECRUITMENT: The centre advertised the positions of Research Associates (2), Senior Research Fellows (2), Documentation officer cum Archivist (1), Junior Research Fellows (2) and a Multi tasking staff. -

Das and Bhaskar Saikia Plant Systematic Research Laboratory, Department of Botany, Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Itanagar-791112, Arunachal Pradesh, India 1Corresponding author, E-mail: [email protected] Abstract A preliminary floristic survey of the Rajiv Gandhi University Campus has recorded the occurrence of 282 species growing naturally, including herbs (80 spp, 28.37%), trees (79 spp, 28.01%), shrubs (52 spp, 18.44%), pteridophytes (32 spp, 11.35%), climbers (28 spp, 9.93%) and grasses & sedges (11 spp, 3.9%). Out of these, 156 species are of medicinal plants and, in addition, 34 species are used in various other ways. The developmental activities within the University Campus resulted in gradual dwindling of its once rich forest cover. Key words: Plant Diversity, Ethnobotany, Rono Hills, Checklist INTRODUCTION Arunachal Pradesh is occupying the easternmost part of the Eastern Himalaya (93º 46' to 13.59" E Longitude and 27º 08' to 50.33" N Latitude. It is a land of lofty hills and luxuriant forests, gentle streams and raging torrents. The state harbors a significant diversity in the flora and fauna. The diverse topography, physiography, altitudinal gradients, climatic conditions prevailing in the state help to establish a diverse niche as the habitat for wide range of organisms. The major part of the area is falling within the ‘Himalaya Hotspot’ and a part in the ‘Indo-Burma Hotspot’ of IUCN (Myers et al, 2000; Conservation International 2005). -
English Departmental Activities 2019-2020
English Department Reports 2019 -2020 Orientation Program for I BA Students for the Academic Year 2019-20 The Orientation programme conducted by the Department of English for the I BA students. It was organized with the objective of familiarizing the students about the vision, mission, history and objectives of what the Department aspire to inculcate and develop in their students. It was scheduled on 18th July, 2019. The vision of the Department is to help students imbibe the seamless integration of literary experience and expression. In this endeavour, it attempts to introduce students to the recent literary trends, to sensitize them to the socio- cultural issues of the time, to empower them to respond intellectually and emotionally, to advance their language skills. Along with this, the main objectives of the English Department was explained by the Head of the Department, Mrs. Brinda Srinivasan. Ms. Suganthi and Ms. Jean, explained to the students about the History, Programme Outcome, Course Outcome, the Student Support Academics, Methodology of Evaluation and Assessment of Performance to enlighten the students about the rules and regulations of the Programme they have chosen. The Orientation Programme was beneficial to the students as they understood their roles and responsibilities and this will aid them in the successful completion of their course. Bridge Course 2019 -2020 A Bridge Course was organized by the Department of English for the first year B.A Optional English students on the 22nd, 27th, 30th of July and 2nd of August 2019 respectively.
