It has been privilege and honour to take up this role once more. I am very proud of this centre and its achievements and I feel I have done my best this year to live up to standards previously set by former Chairpersons and you the membership. This year has seen our lives completely turned upside down with the Coronavirus and our thoughts must go to all those that have lost friends and family to this Virus. My sincere thanks must go to my officers and committee in the way that we have dealt with all the restrictions that have been applied to the centre due the Coronavirus. We did have some rallies at the beginning of the year before Coronavirus Lock down was imposed which were very enjoyable and enjoyed by all who attended them. We did have rallies in the Autumn following the lifting of Covid-19 Restriction. Further downstream, the R. Teign and the lower reaches of the Ugbrooke Stream were identified as being of doubtful quality with the discharge from ECC Broadway continuing to give cause for concern. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. The polluted condition of the Ugbrooke Stream and the R.Teign below Lower Marsh Quarry, even after a peridd of low rainfall, should be noted. 2. The effect of increased solids loadings on the invertebrate fauna should be assessed in a future survey following a protracted period of heavy rain.

National Grid, working with Babcock International Group, started working in March 2017 on a stretch line nearly 100km long, between Landulph and Exeter. Over 300 pylons were included in the refurbishment. The refurbishment involved replacing the power lines, which keep the supply of energy flowing, as well as cosmetic changes like repainting and steelwork replacement. An innovative alternative to scaffolding called Skysafe was used near Trago Mills to avoid getting in the way of people shopping. Skysafe is a safe way to install new overhead wires using trolleys linked with electrically insulated ropes suspended high above the ground. With Skysafe there’s no need for road closures. Project Engineer Robbie Griggs, said: “We’d like to thank our neighbours for their patience during our work. Refurbishing the power lines is vital in ensuring that electricity keeps flowing to where it’s needed. National Grid is investing in refurbishing these overhead lines across the country. “We worked hand in hand with Devon County Council to mitigate any problems, especially at Trago Mills where we avoided excessive disruption using Skysafe.
