Y11 Geographers visited Gateshead in October for their second GCSE fieldwork investigation, this time finding out how Gateshead has changed as a place over time through regeneration.

Data collection included recording land uses on a map of the area, assessing the importance of the river to the regeneration projects there and assessing the environmental quality in these places.

Newcastle and Gateshead has experienced many changes in recent decades, from originally being a base for shipbuilding to now having greater service, tourist and entertainment based industries. Y11 visited the Pitcher & Piano for lunch to experience one of the products of urban change.
