I’d like to end the year by saying a massive thank you to all our parents and children at Penryn Primary. You have all shown such resilience to the challenges that the past year has thrown at us. Your support in keeping our community safe by following our procedures has been invaluable!

A lot of communication has come home this week in regards to transition and restrictions lifting in September. Please take the time to read through this key information and enjoy our teachers 'All About Me' videos with your children.

Mr Newcombe will be joining Learning Academy, which is also part of the Aspire Academy Trust for a new role in September. He will truly be missed and we wish him well in his new role. Mrs Green starts her maternity leave during the summer break, we wish her well and look forward to seeing her again soon.

I would like to take this opportunity to say farewell to our wonderful Year 6 children. You have all been amazing during the time you have been with us at Penryn. We hope you enjoy your time in secondary school and continue to aspire to be the best that you can be. Dream big, believe in yourselves and go for whatever you want to achieve!

To confirm, the summer term will finish at 15:00 on Wednesday 21st July. Playzone will run as normal on this day. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on Wednesday 8th September and look forward to welcoming our new Reception children to our school community.

Lots of fun activities taking place in class over the next few days, keep an eye on our social media feeds to see what we are up to in school.

Enjoy the summer break and we look forward to seeing the vast majority of you in September.

Take care and stay safe.

Mr Hitchens

Eden Fun

Year 4 had a wonderful time at the Eden Project on Friday, they became rainforest rangers for the day! The children were guided through the biomes by experienced staff and learnt about the different climates and forests around the world. Thank you Friends

We would like to say a massive thank you to the Friends of Penryn Primary for their outstanding efforts during a challenging year of fundraising. Due to the restrictions in place we were unable to have our usual fundraising events, but as always, the Friends thought ‘outside the box’ and came up with ways to still raise funds for our school! We enjoyed our class discos, the hampers for the summer raffle were beautiful and lots of happy children purchased ice lollies on ‘Frozen Friday’!

Thank you to all our families for your support in donations, purchasing tickets and taking part in these fundraising efforts.

One more event to go with the Year 6 Leavers Prom tonight! Year 6, have an amazing time this evening - you all deserve it.

Year 1’s conga fun at their disco!

Don’t forget the Summer Reading Challenge has now begun… For more information on this years library challenge, take a look at the following link: https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/news/general/wild-world-heroes- intro

We really encourage you to continue reading with your children over the summer break, take a book outside, read in their favourite place… make reading fun! A key part to reading is talking with your child about the book they are reading to ensure they are understanding the content and flow of the story. Encourage your child to question the meaning of words and talk about what they did or didn’t like in the story.

Reading is a key tool for your child in all aspects of their learning, please take the time to develop their love of reading over the summer holidays. Sports day fun at Penryn Primary!

We had a great day this week during our sports day event, although it seemed very strange not having our wonderful families here to watch, the children made the most of it and cheered each other on. A great opportunity to practice this week's virtue - determination. The sun shone and lots of smiles all round. We hope the children came home and told you all about their events! Here are a few pictures of the day - for more photos, take a look at our social media feeds!

Celebrating Learning

Take a look at some of the wonderful learning taking place in school this week….

Nursery enjoyed a ‘Teddy Fun Day’ this week! They searched for teddies in Forest School and played with them there. They played parachute games, enjoyed a delicious teddy bears picnic and even got given a new teddy each to take home! A massive thank you to our Friends for providing the food and teddies!

Year 1have been getting creative in the art area!

Year 2 spent some time talking about the importance of supporting our peers during sports. We found that above anything kindness and celebration of differences are the most important things to remember. Year 2 made us very proud with their kind words and thoughts.

Year 5 enjoyed their day a Penryn College on Friday. They took part in many activities, including cooking, cricket, life skills and orienteering. Lots of medals won - well done Penryn Primary!
