Community Sports Club Directory Community Sports Club Directory MAY 2015 Ofsted have recognised that using Primary School Sport Premium funding to promote wider links with a range of local sports clubs is a sustainable way of improving the participation and performance of all pupils, including disabled pupils, pupils with special educational needs and the most able. We have produced this directory so that all Primary Schools in Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent have the best opportunity to make these links and have the information at their fingertips to do so. We have provided information on the proactive, effective and safe sports clubs in each locality so that links can be made more easily. Please feel free to share this directory with parents, carers and through your websites or other communication methods; we want the information in this directory to reach as many interested people as possible.     Zeppelins over Trentham Zeppelin raids had taken place at points across the country from 1915, but it was believed that the Midlands were too far inland to be reached by airships. On 31st January 1916, the area was taken by surprise as a number of airships reached the Midlands. One was seen over Walsall at 20.10 and another attacked Burton at 20.30. Lighting restrictions were not in force at the time, so the local area, including the steelworks at Etruria, were lit up. A zeppelin approached from the south and was seen over Trentham. Frederick Todd, the Land Agent for the Trentham Estate, reported that: “At least two zeppelins, who were evidently making their way to Crewe, dropped seven bombs at Sideway Colliery without much damage - they missed their objectives which were the Power House, the by-products plant, and the pit-head installation.” They made craters, but caused no injuries or loss of life. Following this raid, precautions were taken, with blackouts and restrictions on lighting. In 1915 Trentham Church reported spending £3 on insurance against zeppelin attack and damage. On Monday 27th November 1916, a clear, dry night, the German Navy Airship LZ 61 [Tactical number L21], in the company of nine other Zeppelins, crossed the Yorkshire coast. It initially attacked Leeds but was repelled by anti-aircraft fire. Commanded by Oberleutnant Kurt Frankenberg, the LZ61 was on its 10th raid of England, and had also carried out 17 reconnaissance missions. At 22.45 a warning was received locally. Black out and air raid precautions were taken.

    Tracking Progression: 2008 Year 11 school leavers going into Higher Education in 2010 Staffordshire & Stoke-on-Trent March 2011 Introduction Analysis of entry to Higher Education (HE) by Local Authority, district and mainstream, maintained high school This report shows the proportion of all 2008 Year 11 high school students who went on to enter Higher Education (HE) at age 18 in 2010 (i.e. after two years of further education). Figures include those who have an unconditional place offer and are taking a 'gap year'. This study includes those who have entered HE from both the school and college sectors. The report sub-divides the Year 11 cohort into quintiles based on where they live. So Quintile 1 represents those areas in the County/City that are among the 20% most deprived in the country and identifies how many learners in the cohort come from this quintile, and how many of those subsequently applied to higher education. Quintile 5 represents those from areas in the 20% least deprived in the country. The deprivation of an area is based on the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) which is described below (see*). To provide some comparison year on year, data for 2008 entry to HE has been included in the analysis. * The Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007 (IMD 2007) is based on the small area of geography known as Lower Super Output Areas (LSOAs).
