For sale freehold SubEardisley ParkHead is a handsome and remarkable Queen Anne style Country House totally reconstructed 20 years ago following a disastrous fire. The house is Superbly appointed and elegantly proportioned, with a wealth of fine features. There are outstanding panoramic views and beautifully landscaped gardens and grounds of about 15 acres, as well as a swimming pool and an extensive range of period barns, dovecote, stables and other outbuildings. The original Queen Anne house (c 1700) burned to the ground in January 1999, leaving only the stone plinth enclosing the basement and the north wall. Donald Insall Associates, architects, were commissioned for the rebuild shortly after completing post fire restoration works at Windsor Castle. SubThe present Head house was erected on the existing footprint, using salvaged materials from the site wherever possible including all the exterior brickwork but with modern cavity wall insulation behind. The house is classically symmetrical with four double aspect rooms on each of four floors, all opening from the central landings. On the raised ground floor, the four principal rooms open into one another, providing a peripheral circular route for entertaining. External doors lead into the garden to the south, east and west (main entrance) at ground level. The garden was laid out 20 years ago and is now semi-naturalised, with mature trees, an orchard and lawns, water features and flower beds adjoining the house. The extensive outbuildings (over 9000 sq. ft.), from approximately 1650 to 1850, loosely form a series of courtyards enclosing lawned areas and bounded by brick walls and have enormous development potential. The works were completed in December 2001; shortly afterwards the house won Restoration of the Year award from the Georgian Society and Restoration of the Century from Country Life magazine. It also figures in Marcus Binney's book 'In Search of the Perfect House' (500 best houses in GB and Ireland).
