After the description of the pathway, you'll find the language to be used, the meeting point and the time you need to be there (Please be PUNCTUAL!). For every pathway there is a limited number of participants. Thus, when you (or someone else) come to collect the material and the PASS you will be asked to choose a pathway for the 16th and another for the 17th (depending on availability). CITADEL OF CHARITY During this activity, which will be enhanced with lived-out experiences of welcome and service, participants would have the possibility of a concrete close encounter with the life of the poor who, in a city like Rome, have a whole gamut of needs. ADMIRING BEAUTY One may contemplate God's greatness and the creative capacity of his creatures while admiring the powerful expression of art, the delicate and strong polychromes that narrate the history of mankind and that of salvation. This is also true when one stops to have a closer look at the marble statutes which the expert hands of sculptors produced to remind us of the Passion drama. We are proposing a visit to the Vatican Museums and of the Sistine Chapel; these are places which narrate this mystery of art, faith and passion which helped many to communicate with the divine. BREAKING THE CHAINS According to the International Labor Organization and the United Nations' Office against Crimes and Drugs, there are 21 million men, women and children who are victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, forced labor, organ transplants, begging, fixed marriages and illegal adoptions. It is estimated that every year at least two million persons end up caught in the net of human trafficking. 70% of these are women and children. They are all vulnerable and poor subjects. For the exploiters this is a business that is less profitable only to the selling of drugs and arms. In all, the income is about 34 billion dollars. This dimension justifies the definition that human trafficking is one of the most serious slavery of the XXI century. Faced with this phenomenon, Consecrated Life joined forces to fight against human trafficking and promote freedom and dignity. Volunteers from the organization Talitha Kum (UISG) and from the Human Trafficking Office (USMI) will enlighten you about their mission through witnessing, prayer and creative activities. Indeed, today it is much part of the lives of many who believe in Christ. Pope Francis often spoke about today's martyrs and the ecumenism of blood; he urged the powers-that-be to do something about this grave situation. He also urged the Church to do her utmost for those Christians that are being persecuted, expelled, killed in the Middles East, from Syria to Iraq, as well as in Africa and Asia. Besides prayers, concrete actions or solidarity are needed too. In Rome there is a Basilica which is dedicated to the Martyrs of the XX and XXI centuries; the St Egidio Community looks after it. Inside, Eucharistic adoration takes place accompanied by songs, prayers, and moments of silence. Outside the church, young men and women invite those they meet to take part in this festive meeting with the Lord. It is a contagious invitation because such a meeting truly changed their own lives. This is what the Missionary Night is all about; it is enlivened by the Regnum Christi Movement . It is an opportunity to share with the persons that pass near the church some thought, a prayer, an intention. It is also an opportunity to suggest meeting one of the available priests for the Sacrament of Reconciliation or a colloquium. Date and time: 17 September at 8.00 p.m. for participants in: ITALIAN FRENCH SPANISH ENGLISH PORTUGUESE Location: Basilica di Sant’Andrea della Valle, Corso Vittorio Emanuele II DEVELOPING A PORTRAIT This experience is reserved for women. From words to the hands, to the gaze; it is the experience of the on-going portrait, and the resulting video is the fruit of the dialogue between all those who live out this experience and the artist. The latter will eventually give a countenance to the profound message that each one would like to express through her own self. This message says the truth about herself, her faith and her relationship with God and the others. The Roman artist Francesca Montinaro asks each participant to reflect upon her own identity and her role, and then synthesis this reflection in a symbolic gesture: dirtying her hands to send a message beyond the video.
