February 26, 2021 Amazon Warehouse Workers In
February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Ed Asner Walks Into His New Lawyer’S Office to Discuss His Vast Estate When the Lawyer Greets Him, Iwarmly, Wearing Jeans and a Polo Shirt
APPEARANCES DO MATTER By David S. Wolf n a very funny scene from Larry David’s HBO comedy series “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Ed Asner walks into his new lawyer’s office to discuss his vast estate when the lawyer greets him, Iwarmly, wearing jeans and a polo shirt. Asner’s character is taken aback by the lawyer’s outfit, asking if he is going to a “Halloween party.” The lawyer attempts to put Asner at ease, advising him that it is “casual Friday.” Asner responds by telling the lawyer that he looks like a “f—cowboy.” The lawyer’s efforts to put the prospective client at ease, assuring him that his estate would not be handled “casually,” fall on deaf ears, and Asner, outraged, leaves in a huff, large retainer in hand. Hbo Premieres All New Series Girls and Veep
HBO PREMIERES ALL NEW SERIES GIRLS AND VEEP Miami, July 9, 2012 – HBO Latin America announced that Girls and Veep, two new original comedies, will premiere on July 23. The first episode of both productions will be available on www.hbomax.tv after they air onscreen. Girls is a comedy directed by Lena Dunham, the up-and-coming filmmaker and actor, who also stars in the series. Veep stars Emmy®-award-winning actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who has starred in popular series like Seinfield and Curb your Enthusiasm. Created and led onscreen by Lena Dunham, Girls takes a comic look at the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of women in their early 20s living in New York City. The series, which has already been renewed for a second season, focuses on the girls’ adventures in post-collegiate floundering. A fresh and intimate look at friendship, relationships and self-discovery, Girls is a contemporary coming-of-age show that packs humor, farce and poignancy into each episode. Through four distinct characters, who may seem unlikely friends to some, Girls shines through as a voice of the post-recession generation who can hardly afford lunch, let alone Manolos. In addition to Lena Dunham as the anxious, rumpled Hannah, the cast of Girls includes Jemima Kirke as the beautiful Jessa, allergic to all things bourgeois; Allison Williams as Marnie, Hannah’s uptight roommate with strict rules about their best-friendship; Zosia Mamet (Mad Men) as Shoshanna, an NYU student and Jessa’s self-help obsessed roommate and cousin; and Adam Driver (HBO’s You Don’t know Jack) As Hannah’s love interest, Adam. -

Contentious Comedy
1 Contentious Comedy: Negotiating Issues of Form, Content, and Representation in American Sitcoms of the Post-Network Era Thesis by Lisa E. Williamson Submitted for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy The University of Glasgow Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies 2008 (Submitted May 2008) © Lisa E. Williamson 2008 2 Abstract Contentious Comedy: Negotiating Issues of Form, Content, and Representation in American Sitcoms of the Post-Network Era This thesis explores the way in which the institutional changes that have occurred within the post-network era of American television have impacted on the situation comedy in terms of form, content, and representation. This thesis argues that as one of television’s most durable genres, the sitcom must be understood as a dynamic form that develops over time in response to changing social, cultural, and institutional circumstances. By providing detailed case studies of the sitcom output of competing broadcast, pay-cable, and niche networks, this research provides an examination of the form that takes into account both the historical context in which it is situated as well as the processes and practices that are unique to television. In addition to drawing on existing academic theory, the primary sources utilised within this thesis include journalistic articles, interviews, and critical reviews, as well as supplementary materials such as DVD commentaries and programme websites. This is presented in conjunction with a comprehensive analysis of the textual features of a number of individual programmes. By providing an examination of the various production and scheduling strategies that have been implemented within the post-network era, this research considers how differentiation has become key within the multichannel marketplace. -

Veep Guests: Gary Cole and David Mandel
The West Wing Weekly 0.14: Veep Guests: Gary Cole and David Mandel [Intro Music] HRISHI: You're listening to The West Wing Weekly. I’m Hrishikesh Hirway. JOSH: And I’m Joshua Malina. HRISHI: Well, we're done with season six and as a result, we're done with Vice President Bob Russell. That was his last episode last episode. JOSH: That's right. But before we start season seven, we've got a bonus episode and we could think of no better way to honor Bingo Bob, and one of our other favorite shows about politics, than with a special episode on Veep with special guests Gary Cole who played VP Russell, of course, as well as Kent Davison on Veep and Veep's show runner: Dave Mandel. HRISHI: Veep is an amazing show and you should all be watching it or you should be done watching it now that the series is wrapped. If you don't know Veep has been nominated for a total of 59 Emmys and it won 17 of them. It just ended this past May and like The West Wing, it's going to be missed. But we were thrilled to get the chance to talk to Gary Cole and Dave Mandel. GARY: This is Gary Cole and I play Kent Davison on Veep and on West Wing, known as Bingo Bob. What was his last name? I don’t know [crosstalk] JOSH and HRISHI: [crosstalk] Russell GARY: Bob Russell JOSH: I love that you had to ask that. GARY: Yeah. I did.
