Voice of the Governors 2018-19

Annual report to parents

This report encompasses the 2018-19 school year.

Word from the Chairperson I am delighted to be able to report on another successful year for Ysgol Morfa . Academic results show that the majority of Year 2 pupils achieved the outcome level 5 or higher (the expected standard for pupils of their age). Year 2 and 3 National Test Results were also outstanding for Reading and Numeracy. These successes reflect the continued effectiveness of teaching strategies used and specialised support offered to pupils. This approach, together with the dedication and care of the staff for each of their pupils creates a happy, inclusive learning environment which is undoubtedly at the root of the successful outcomes.

Yet again you will see from this report and on the school website evidence of the myriad of opportunities the pupils are given throughout the year. The governors are grateful for the close community links and parental support which makes this possible. These experiences help develop rounded individuals.

The school continues to diligently prepare for the New Curriculum for which will first be implemented for all year groups, to year 6, in 2022. Preparations are well in hand with staff being trained in new pedagogies and IT skills. I am confident that the school will make a seamless transition to the new curriculum when the time comes and will continue to offer an education of the highest standard for its pupils. This will provide them with a solid foundation for their lifelong learning journeys.
