The Dawgs, who won one of three last weekend vs. BYU, host crosstown rival SeattleU (6-4) Tuesday Dallas Baptist at Washington at 5:00 p.m. at Husky Ballpark. The Redhawks have won two of three the last two weekends vs. Notre Dame and Port- Husky Ballpark, 5:00 p.m. PT land. This Thursday through Saturday, Dallas Baptist (7-4) comes to the UW for a three-game series. In 2010, his first season in charge, he improved the Huskies’ season record by five wins coming up . . . over the previous year, going 28-28 against a schedule ranked as high as third-toughest in the nation. Meggs came to the UW after having spent the previous three seasons at Indiana State and the 13 prior to that at Chico State, where he Fri.-Sun., March 18-20 won NCAA Division II national championships in 1997 and 1999. He helped Chico to the D-II College World Series seven Washington at CS Fullerton times and won the league eight times. At Indiana State, he was named Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year three-game, non-conference series in 2009 after guiding the Sycamores to a second-place finish, their highest since 1998. Currently, he boasts a 645-342-4 record over 17 seasons as a four-year college head coach. He’d previously served as head coach at Long Beach City Col- Tuesday, March 22 lege and Oxnard College. Born in San Jose and a graduate of Saratoga (Calif.) High, Meggs played four seasons as the UW vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff (at Ok. St.) starting third baseman at UCLA. He was drafted by the Brewers in 1983, and then again by the Royals after his senior non-conference game year in 1984. Meggs is joined by assistant coaches Dave Nakama, Dave Dangler and Jordon Twohig.
