Miscellaneous: REFEREE OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALS: Referee of the Journal - American Political Science Review (A+). Referee of the Journal - Political Research Quarterly. 11. Academic Profile: I finished my doctoral dissertation at 2003 and started my academic life in participation at the International Political Science Association conference at Japan in July 2006. Since then I did post-doc at UCSD, published 6 researches that one of them was the post-doc study and presented papers in professional conferences in political science (IPSA, MPSA, ECPR). I was asked to be referee in two important professional journals in political science and was asked to be chair and discussant in a session at the MPSA conference in Chicago 2011. Legislative Studies is a field investigated in two main areas; North America and Europe. The main questions of the field try to understand the behavior of legislators, the procedures of parliament and the way these procedures enable or delay legislators to set their political agenda. Most of the research based on quantitative methods while less is based on quantitative methods. My research agenda emphasizes two aspects of the field's content: the first, using mix research methods accordance to the subject of it. In this way the picture that emerges from my researches is more comprehensive. The second aspect is developing models to examine the qualitative of the legislators' activities in their parliaments (for example, research regarding the effectiveness of parliamentary questions 2011 and the research regarding legislators' productivity 2011). At the same time my projects examine the differences between groups in parliaments such as gender, minority and religious. The contribution of my researches is overarching research methods, developing models for examining the quality of parliamentary activity and expanding the knowledge regarding the Israeli parliament These are my research projects: 1. One Minute Speeches. In the last decade few parliament adopted one minute speech as a tool that enable MP to speak about any subject for one minute. The project will map and examine the content of the speeches and will try to understand its important to the overall parliamentary activity. The project will compare between parliaments that use one minute speeches. 2. Parliamentary question as a tool for criticizing government. Continue to develop the model which was empirically examined by me at the Israeli parliament (one of the paper which was published at April 2011). I will examine the model in variety of parliaments such as Denmark, UK, Norway and Sweden. 3. Representatives at the local government. The research examines the characters of the representative's work at the local government councils. Its purpose is to expand the knowledge regarding the ways representatives act at the local arena. Nowadays I am a representative at the local government council of Kfar Vradim. Being in this position raised many questions especially about the huge gap between the expectations from the role and the facilities available to the role. 4. Legislators' productivity. I developed a model to examine the productivity of representatives. It is the first time that research combined between all the parliamentary tools into one measurement. In addition the research looks for the explanations regarding the differences at the productivity level. 5. Reelection. One of the major topics that interest the scholars at the legislative studies field is the explanation for reelection. As part of the productivity model mentioned above, I examine whether productivity helps MP to reelect. 6. Gender and Politics. Women activities at the political arena arouse curiosity among scholars. In my research I examine the content of women's activity compared to men's activity. 7. Minorities in Politics. The Arab minority in Israel was investigated in a variety of disciplines, my research examines the way Arab's representative comprehended the concepts of equality and recognition. 8. Local Governmant Studies. Representatives behavior at the local government. Gender and local government. According to an estimate based on the results of the municipal amalgamations reform carried out in Israel in 2003 (Reingewertz, 2012), thanks to the economies of scale in providing public services, these unifications are expected to generate savings of approximately NIS 131 million per annum.

  • Radicant Israeli Art: from Past to Future
arts Article Radicant Israeli Art: From Past to Future Ori Z. Soltes Center for Jewish Civilization, Georgetown University, Washington, DC 20057, USA; [email protected] Received: 4 November 2019; Accepted: 10 January 2020; Published: 6 February 2020 Abstract: Mieke Bal’s concept of “migratory aesthetics” and the observation by Saloni Mathur and Anne Ring Peterson that “traditional notions of location, origin and authenticity seem obsolete and in urgent need of reconsideration” perfectly encompass the phrase “Jewish art”, and within that difficult-to-define subject, Israeli art (which, among other things, is not always “Jewish”). As Hava Aldouby has noted, Israeli art presents a unique inflection of the global condition of mobility—which in fact contributes to the problem of easily defining the category of “Israeli art”. Nothing could be more appropriate to the discussion of Israeli art, or to the larger definitional problem of “Jewish art” than to explore it through Nicolas Bourriaud’s botanical metaphor of the “radicant”, and thus the notion of “radicant art”. The important distinction that Bourriaud offers between radical and radicant plants—whereby the former type depends upon a central root, deep-seated in a single nourishing soil site, whereas the latter is an “organism that grows its roots and adds new ones as it advances ::: ” with “ ::: a multitude of simultaneous or successive enrootings”—is a condition that may be understood for both Israeli and Jewish art, past and present: Aldouby’s notion that the image of the Wandering Jew offers the archetypal radicant, informs both the “altermodernity” concept and Israeli art. Keywords: Arab; Bezalel; diaspora; diverse/diversity; Jerusalem Biennale; Jewish art; Palestinian; radicant; Schatz 1.
