Since their reunion in 2000, the band been touring and releasing live recordings on a fairly regular basis. The band did convene long enough in 2003 to record Collideoscope , which was not a true return to form for the band left many fans divided. The band is set to release a new studio recording this year (tentatively titled Chair in the Doorway ) and hopefully the band will return to their roots. One year after their last live DVD release, Living Colour are back with The Paris Concert which is a 17-song, 107 minute which was recorded at the New Morning club last year. It is great to see the pioneers of funk rock back in action again after all of these years, and The Paris Concert is truly representative of what you will get in a live show from Living Colour. The show was filmed in HD at the New Morning Club in Paris in July of 2007. The set list encapsulates the bands career featuring songs from all four of their studio releases as well as a few covers and the new track Either Way which features vocals from bassist Doug Wimbish . The show is shot very vell and truly gives you a sense of being in the crowd. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that the band sounds great. Living Colour are truly firing on all cylinders and The Paris Concert will be enough to wet our chops until the next studio release. This is a true treat for Living Colour fans. Bottom Line : A much stronger release than 2007’s On Stage at the World Cafe Live. You get a full set from the band and more. Ragman is bringing down the funk. She tosses her long hair around as her hands fly over the guitar strings and the neck of the guitar one recent Monday afternoon. "I like to show off what I can do and show people how serious I am about my career," the 15-year-old says. Desiree' started playing the guitar when she was 3. She played her first full-size guitar at 5, and she won a talent competition when she was 12. At 14, she played side stage at Ozzfest in Hartford. Now she's 15, and has captured the attention of rock music legends Rik Emmett, Dicky Betts and Joe Satriani. Desiree' has four major endorsements and is working on an album with her band, Desiree' & the Time Machine. Her producer is bass player Doug Wimbish from Living Colour. Desiree' is only the second person ever to sit in and play with Living Colour. The other? Carlos Santana. Desiree', a 10th-grader at E.O. Smith High School in Storrs, practices every day for several hours, sometimes as many as eight. She has three shows scheduled in December and recently completed a very secret recording project in Arizona. "Somehow I manage to balance it all out and get it done," Desiree' said.

During the 1980s three revolutions took hold of popular music: the emergence of disc-jockeys as a creative force (in particular in techno music), the advent of hip-hop (and therefore of the "rapper"), and the marriage of industrial music, heavy metal and hardcore (generically associated with the "cyber-punk" culture). The idea of rapping was imported into New York by the Jamaican immigrants, who were already familiar with "toasting" (a reggae artist talking in rhyme over the instrumental sections of a record). Some of them became disc-jockeys ("dj") that traveled around New York carrying their "sound system" to perform at block parties. In 1975 in the Bronx of New York, one of them, Clive "Hercules" Campbell, or "Kool Herc", started making music with two turntables out of breakbeats (the instrumental breaks of a song that focused on the rhythm section, the favorite part of the song for most dancers), while another young black man of the Bronx, Theodore "Grand Wizard" Livingstone was accidentally discovering the "skratching" sound of a turntable.
