It records the Marriages and Burials from that date until 1726, and these seem to have been regularly ^-^ entered by Aquila Forster and James Allgood, the Rectors ^r during that period, with their own hands, and are fairly well 1346GiO The Register of Births, the greater part of which were not christened in the church, commences in 1696, and was carried ^—^ on apparently with moderate regularity until 1709, although in year, are not given J that and the preceding the day and month ; ( but after that the entries are few and at long intervals, while those on page 142 are of a much later date. The first two leaves, both of the Births' and Burials' entries, are now placed in reversed order, but this may have been done in the re-binding.

POINT OF FAILURE PJ MC CARTY – UNIVERSITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON ABSTRACT By the summer of 1940 the British Army had suffered two simultaneous strategic defeats in Norway and France. Both had led to hurried and ignominious evacuations. A popular misconception contends that this led to a wholesale clearing out of the British Army’s command structure in order to start again, and that many officers suffered the loss of their careers in the necessity to rebuild an army both to withstand invasion and enable victory over Nazi Germany. This thesis contends that this belief is misplaced, and that rather than automatically ending the careers of all involved, some officers would progress and even thrive after 1940 in varying degrees.
