After an introduction to spreadsheet terminology and Excel's window components, students will learn how to use the Help system and navigate worksheets and workbooks. Then they will enter and edit text, values, formulas, and pictures, and they will save workbooks in various formats. Students will also move and copy data, learn about absolute and relative references, and work with ranges, rows, and columns. Taking their cues from Master Photographers like Edward Steichen, artists such as Berenice Abbott and Manuel Álvarez Bravo built on that foundation in order to explore the very art of photography. Utilizing their cameras, they created a new, modern vision for photography with a revised understanding of the camera and its capabilities. No longer tied to a pictorial past, these artists, and others, gave photography its own unique definition as an art form based solely on its ability to capture and create striking images. As a result, they too are considered Master Photographers. The second chapter in this survey exhibition gathers selected images from collecting initiated after the formal establishment of the Southeast Museum of Photography in 1992, and features acquisitions made in those first nine years of the museum's collecting, until 2001. These two sections represent a brief sampling only of the wealth and richness of the museum's collection. Sept. 30, 2-3:30 p.m. DSC's 'Teaching Beyond Borders' Trip to Haiti Wisdom In Senior Education (W.I.S.E.) is a program offered by the Daytona State College Foundation to promote and share the academic college resources with our senior community, providing learning opportunities in an enjoyable format. This spring, nine students and three faculty went to Cap-Haitien, a city of about 190,000 people on the north coast of Haiti, as part of DSC's education program initiative, "Teaching Beyond Borders." Organizer Dr. Donald May will describe what they learned at College Susan Schuenke, a private school (grades pre-K through grade 13), which is funded entirely by donations.
