In 2013/2014 we put in place a 3 year plan that would see the ACC once again play- ing off for a premiership in the VSDCA. There were performance indicators put in place to measure our plan to ensure we were on track for our ultimate goal. The first indicator was to make the finals in the 2013/2014 season after missing out the year before. We recruited to make us competitive and provide leadership to the playing group, and this was achieved. Sec- ondly, we wanted to go one step further in 2014/2015 and make the semi-finals, something I am proud to say we achieved this year. Our ultimate goal is for a premiership in 2015/2016. We are on track for what we set out to achieve, but more work is still needed to reach the premiership. The 2014/2015 season was one of consolidation after the signings of the previous year. The senior com- mittee and junior committee worked together to make the club as viable on the field as off it. The close- ness with which we worked together was the most pleasing aspect of the year for me as President, and the playing group and supporters will see more structure and direction in the club in the coming years. Once again as a policy of the coaching panel, success was rewarded and again this year, many new players debuted for the club this year. Again like last year, the most notable debutant was a 15 year old debutant in Zane Donazzon. The ACC is proud of the fact that we see ourselves as the stepping stone for higher grades and we promote youth within our club. Rewarding success and achievements and promoting youth are the things that make us proud of our coaching and playing group. The season cannot be completed without once again mentioning the phenomenal efforts of Aaron Maynard. Aaron followed up his herculean efforts of last year with another stellar year in 2014/2015 where he made 683 runs (including 3 tons). Aaron is one of the premier batsmen in the competition and his accumulation of runs is astounding. Another great year Aaron well done. The other special mention is for James Grubb. James this year was rewarded for his performances with se- lection in the VSDCA representative team to play the Crusaders. James has become an integral part of the senior team taking 21 wickets and making 236 runs. James opened both the batting and bowling this year, which is a remarkable effort. I would like to thank the captain of our club Shane Jones on his leadership and maturity he showed this year in the role. Shane made his first hundred for the club when he made 125 against Kew. Shane made 432 runs this year and the success of the side is testament to the manner in which he guides and leads the team on the field. Great work Shane. I would like to congratulate Colin Scott and everyone who played fourths in the season. We made the finals in the fourths and the leadership and guidance of Colin was a huge part of that success. Well done to all. ALTONA CRICKET CLUB 52nd ANNUAL REPORT - SEASON 2014/15 The ACC organised our second “Ladies / Charity day” which was again our most successful function and is now been an annual event along with our Presidents Lunch. The charity day attracted 190 people over $7,918 was raised for Breast West. The function was managed by Samantha Elmore who worked tireless- ly for months in the lead up to ensure the day went off without a hitch, which it did. Great work Sam, your effort is appreciated by all at the club and as we know it is greatly appreciated by the recipient, Breastwest. The club was able to attract another major sponsor this year in the Phoenix Hotel. Through the enor- mous effort of Glenn Paten as sponsorship manager, the club were once again able to gain sponsors from an eclectic field of business. From the corporate sectors of mining and finance, to sporting clubs and the hotel industry. Please check the website and this report for the full list of sponsors, but I would like to once again acknowledge our major sponsor Royalco Resources Limited who again supported the club greatly.

The decline had perhaps begun as early as the 1999 World Cup final, and peaked during the 2003 World Cup tournament and it became more obvious in the aftermath of the twin series defeats against India at home in early 2004. The services of Bob Woolmer as coach were acquired by the Pakistan Cricket Board in an effort to ensure that the team came up with improved performance and did justice with the loads of talent. The move has paid dividends.
